I left my machine running with the game on the menu... I know it runs pretty crazy frame rates but that shouldn't really kill anything. I came back inside after a couple of hours of doing chores and started a scenario to find that the menu is burnt into my screen. Hopefully it will clear while the monitor is off but if it doesn't my $800 photo editing monitor is now stuffed and I am very sad. So a word of caution, don't leave the menu running. Note I'm not suggesting this is the game's fault... any bright static imagery will do it apparently.

Make sure to run some OLED wipe videos! If your monitor doesn't have one built in, try running this for a few hours:

Wow! I didn't didn't think screen burn was a thing in this day and age! I remember it being a big problem on the old plasma TVs but it's been years since they've been around now. What type of monitor was it that this happened on?

Nothing to do with the game itself, that is just the nature of some screens. Would've happened with any static image.

Yeah Callum B. I found from googling and ran it for five hours and the ghost is mostly gone.
JZJ90 neither did I - apparently some 2K and 4K OLED panels are quite susceptible including mine

Wow. Screen burn. Takes me back to the 90s and all those fancy screen savers. I didn’t think it existed anymore. I hope you get it sorted.

Screen burn is still an issue on some older OLED TVs. We have a LG 65” as our main TV and we will not run anything game related on it. Even wary about TV channels that display a fixed logo or programmes like BBC Breakfast with the big red banner at bottom of the screen.

    Bet that was a shock.
Photographic monitors can cost between one and a half to two grand upwards.
Which one do you have Paul?

Burn-in on any type of display is very unlikely these days. What you can get is " image persistence or retention ", but it usually goes away after a period of normal changing images. To avoid it, use a screen saver that kicks in after about 15 minutes of inactivity.
