You can't on consoles. Mice are not supported in this title except on PC.

It is just that I heard on the suggestions forum that with 4.26 came mouse support on console
Also, good idea for the cheese however that only works in real life, not train sim world

There is no mouse support for PlayStation, even after 4.26. I think the person was talking about Xbox and assumed it would be the same on PlayStation.

I haven’t tried Xbox, PlayStation definitely doesn’t work.

Megasim posted a video of him using a mouse with Xbox (mentions it at 48 seconds)
    .
Too bad it doesn't work for us PlayStation users.

I have used a mouse on both PS4 and ps5 so it has to be possible on both, if it happens on one, it should happen on the other

I have a wireless USB mouse and keyboard that I sometimes use on the PS4. I could not get the mouse to do anything whilst running TSW2. Mouse support on PS4 is poor with very few games allowing it and even then only the left mouse button works. I have not seen the scroll wheel used either.

When you're inside the cab, you can operate the train controls with the mouse. Some of these controls do not have controller buttons assigned, and thus can only be operated like this. Without the mouse, you need to point with the controller.

(Ignoring the 2 and a half year necroed thread)

Keyboard functionality is limited anyway, not all keyboard functions on console work. Most people using a console would likely use a controller for that console. So why waste valuable development resources?

Because TSW is a game that fundamentally works better with a mouse and keyboard. Simulation games on consoles really should have mouse and keyboard support. Most already do. The Sims has it, Cities Skylines does too, Planet Coaster, etcetera. Plenty of FPS games have it too. Even Minecraft has mouse and keyboard support on consoles. Kerbal Space Program didn't, which made the console version unplayable.

While it's obviously from a long time ago, I remember talking to Sam (Protagonist) before TSW3 released and asked why there was mouse support on the Xbox One version but not the PS4. To summarise what he said, the PS4 (and presumably PS5) do not have built-in mouse support for games, so DTG would need to find their own solution for it. He said that DTG had been looking at those solutions, but obviously nothing ever came of it. For something that would have been a massive quality of life feature I was surprised that DTG just didn't take it very seriously.

I use a RailDriver, once set, I put my mouse on the charging dock and usually don't touch it for the entire run/service

Back in TSW1, we did have a movable cursor which could be toggled using the right analog stick (you had to hold it to access the exterior cameras), but for whatever reason, it was removed in TSW2, helpful as without keys shortcuts, you have to look at every cab button, whereas with the cursor you did not need to move the camera, which (in my opinion) was far better for immersion.
