Hey there, since Sam confirmed that he‘s willing to take questions and/or requests for Thursday‘s Br 187 release stream from a pre-stream suggestions thread, I‘d like to invite everyone to post any questions/requests in this thread. It‘s an unofficial official questions thread if you like Cheers
Starting with my own: Does the 187 have a working GPR-selector for the brake modes introduced with DRA? Is the 187 equipped with working LZB? If so, could this be shown off in the stream?
Does the BR 187 come with the optional "last-mile" Diesel functionality? Will there be scenarios and/or timetable services that make use of the deserted yards on SKA (near Stolberg and Aachen Rothe Erde)? Will the BR 187 be usable and substitute on HMA and DRA despite the layer problems? Will there be a new type of freight cars together with the loco?
If the DB BR187 has a Last mile diesel engine can this operate in the area around Main Spessart Bahn Aschaffenburg Hafen and the un electrified sidings at Stolberg Düren & Aachen Rothe Erde.
Having spent more on TSW than any other game ever with about 10+ DLC's it's becoming clearer that this means those paying the most are now getting the worst in terms of game crashes. Therefore its getting counter productive to buy more DLC as you will play less with more crashes - snappy advertising suggestion - " DTG - you pay more and play less". Something urgently needs to be done in terms of optimisation or let us know how many routes we should delete to make some of the new DLC playable. Are there going to be any fixes coming? If not what is DTG's advice? We have been waiting for more British DLC's to be playable on other routes - similar to the German ones but guess what you won't be able to play them due to layer problems. Surely for old generation console players we should be getting a discount on new DLC's as we can't use them on other routes? The annoying thing is that the Boston route works perfectly but Dresden and to a lesser extent Brighton are unplayable. When Sam used to say "It's not good enough" those were minor glitches and nothing compared to the current disaster we are experiencing.
None of this has anything to do with the BR 187, and in any case has already been discussed over the last few weeks on stream, and will likely continue to be discussed in future relevant streams.
How are the new services on SKA? Does the timetable include services where the freight train needs to wait in one of the overtaking tracks along the highspeed route to be overtaken by a ICE or RE?
To put emphasis on it, I will echo what I have read before instead of upvoting: -Will the new services give access to some of the yards? -will it have working lzb? -is there any distinct feature that is neat or unique to this loco? In case the new timetable services consist of more than starting and ending on the main tracks, I would gladly see you playing such a service. Also a brief overview of the available scenarios would be nice!
If I don't like freight as a game mode but I like to see freight trains come by when driving a commuter is it worth the purchase on last gen? Will they appear in my gameplay on Koln? And after all the debacle with other DLC: Are you sure this loco will not break another route like Dresden so I have to uninstall the game and reinstall it without the newly purchased loco? Will Köln choke on my PS4 Pro if I add the loco?
As it will release for SKA, we surely will see in the stream if it does work. Question: - Will any new freight cars come with that loco? If not, why? - What are the scenario planner formations for the 187? - How come we got no preview stream before release? - What is Skyhooks next (german) project? [Yeah I know, wait for the roadmap...] - Can we see how the loco behaves in rain/snow?
What consists will be availble in scenario planner? Are there special heavy double-header-consists? Which services will the BR 187 substitute on MSB and RSN?
If it will have working LZB, is it working in the Cab as well or only in the Hud? The real 187 uses for low load only the rear axles, but if you push the power-handle a bit further forward, it continues using all 4. Is this simulated? Do we have a working Ebula? To the engine room question: Also it's I.e. for the battery and even if there's nothing to be turned or operated, it's still nice to be walkable because you wouldn't have to leave the loco to change cabs.
grob-e The first 2 questions you did, are the ones I have too. Hope there will be a double headed BR 187 train with the heavy DB coal hoppers. I saw video on Youtube where 2 DB BR 185 where used on this train, so it could be reasonable to have the BR 187 too. And I would like to add a new question: Will be later available the DB BR 147? The corresponding similar passenger version. So I believe no so much modifications be necessary. The visible one is the destination city and service identification
Well the 147 in real life is not just a reskin of the 187. Yeah, very similar. But they are siginificant technical differences. So I wouldn't expect the 147 to be "later available".
Yeah, there should be quite different physics due to the different engine suspension, the 147 uses the so-called 'Hohlwellenantrieb' where the engine is mounted in a hollow axle (to my understanding), whereas the 187 uses a more classical 'Tatzlagerantrieb' where the egine is mounted besides the axle, and power is transferred via gears. This leads to (slightly) different handling and physics. Besides that some modelling and functionality modifications would also have to be made. Not only PIS screens are part of the passenger traffic packages these locos have, but also more advanced door opening/closing controls and some other stuff I wouldn't know out of the top of my head. The base model for the TRAXX3 being in-game does slightly increase the chances of seeing a passenger version of the TRAXX3 one day, but if it comes it will defintely be as (part of) a seperate add-on.
Matinakbari and jolojonasgames Thanks you for your replies. Yes I know a freight locomotive, it is not the same as a passenger one, related to the technical issues and set up. I was referring mainly to 3d design both exterior and interior. I believe it will be similar, so this helps for the future BR 147 The performance and dynamics of course must be updated accordingly to the type of locomotive. I mentioned this, due to we also had at same time the BR 146 and BR185, which have similar differences according to the use of each one. Yes, for sure 147 must be a different DLC, as we are just getting the BR 187 as announced. Hopping there will be extra freight car available too, but nothing was mentioned yet.
Ben Thanks for your reply Please notice in order to have the DB coal hoppers, you must have the BR 155.
Well to start with, he was button mashing everywhere in the cab, in an attempt to get the train moving, so the fact that you have seen it in motion is a privilege.
It's a pity that the stream does not show any of the scenarios (or at least I could not find it). That the timetable services are only westbound and eastbound without any additional action (splitting up trains etc. in a yard) was to be expected. Also did not know that Deutsche Bahn operates 150kph high speed intermodal services. You never stop learning.
Key take aways for me (The ones marked with a "?" would be a question for the stream tomorrow): Pro: - Being able to walk through the loco. I like that it is low quality and will not add to the burden of the GPU, however, as there is probably no shunting, there is no real point in walking to the other side anyway... - I would have said: visuals, until I saw the markings (see cons) - ? Sub-screens on the MFD (remains to be seen later on). - ? LZB seems to be on board - ? Looks like there is a brake mode selector Cons: - Markings on the outside wrong (Vmax 160 vs 140 irl, probably taken from a 147, now, this is a real no-go. You would assume that a developer has gone at least into so much detail... ah well... in the cab they are correct) - Sounds are terrible, indeed. Unfortunately very far away from the real deal. - ? No shunting action in timetable mode
So totally useless for those of us who drive with the HUD off then. Gutted, seems I'll be grabbing a takeout tomorrow with the money I save from not buying this.
Bit of a bump. Well the Class 187 was always flawed and the chances of anything getting fixed let alone added as you suggest, at this point in its life cycle = exactly zero. It’s forgotten DLC, just like most content in TSW when it gets over six months old.
