With the livery designer 2.0 on the roadmap I want to make some suggestions that could improve the livery designer.
    1. Being able to have a option to edit the default livery. For example. If I wanted to change a 377/1 to a 377/5 then instead of having to make the whole livery again. Just br able to edit the current livery.
    2. Being able to tint window colours
    3. More space so that people can use even more textures to make liverys more realistic
    4. Increasing the amount of liverys you can make.

The first argument is just straight to the point!

Also we shouldn't have to add the class onto the front of the train, example for a 314, i don't want to have to put 314 205 onto a livery, it should automatically layer over a livery, and you would be able to remove it or change the color

I do wonder if editing existing liveries might not be permitted due to licensing constraints

There’d be a pretty low chance of the first one happening, due to licensing constraints

Not really because if people just want to change the 377/4 to a /3 then they would have to remake the whole livery

I didn’t think about that but sadly I can see that being an issue

I don't really see the problem. The licensed part is the companies livery. For example a Modded version of the Southeastern Livery would technically not count as Southeasterns Livery. The best way of this happening, if livery licensing is the issue, would; be to take off the logo and make the community make it themselves.

The problem is that a company may not want their livery to be edited, and just removing the logo might annoy the license holder (which isn’t good for DTG)

You can never make assumptions when it comes to licensing, any terms agreed upon will be explicitly specified. A livery is part of a company's brand and altering that will not necessarily be part of the agreed-upon terms. Taking a liberal interpretation of your licensing agreements is a surefire way to damage your relations with a brand can make any future negotiations with them more restrictive and more expensive or even prevent them from taking place at all.

Yes but if company's didn't want there liverys edited then livery designer wouldn't have existed because you can just remake the liverys.

    Yes and no.

Yes, the companies will have agreed to their trains being implemented as part of the livery designer and all that comes with it. But remember that it is licensing that is the main hurdle for an official livery sharing tool.

The end-user can recreate whatever livery they want but it is at the end of the day their creation. The DTG liveries are officially licensed products and any changes allowed to them must be agreed upon by the license holder. Even if you do recreate a real-life livery and then change it, you are not altering the officially licensed product.

This is what I mean when I say you can't make assumptions when it comes to anything related to licensing.

Licensing is an incredibly complicated process and requires a specialised team of people on both sides to negotiate a deal. "If we can do this, then we can also do this" just simply doesn't exist when it comes to licensing, you can do what is explicitly stated in the license agreement and nothing else.

I definitely suggest text editor with changeable fonts. Writing text in livery designer is currently very frustrating and takes a lot of time. With text editor we could also be able to add more another layers for liveries to make them look better.
