This topic been bantered about alot lately...by alot of us...
But as much as we love...
    New Routes.
    New Loco Add Ons.
    And...
Updates to fixes bugs, glitches, tech issues etc..(It unfortunately a mixed bag on how effective some of these updates end up being).
But back on point...What's the chances a new country might just show up in 2022?
Next to wanting steam locomotives for TSW2 a new country just might be enough to build up some new excitement in TSW2 after all the ups and downs that we have all had to deal with this last year,we could all use somewhere new to drive new trains.(Plus are current trains could also visit there to and vica versa.

I doubt any new countries will show up. I don't think these are big sellers for DTG, or else there would be more of them already. They will probably focus on steam and also releasing as many US/UK/Germany routes as possible. In this way they can also encourage layering and therefore try to increase the sales of their older routes as well.

However, if they were interested in any new countries it might be compelling to present Italy with a Frecciarossa vs Italo theme, although I imagine it would be difficult to get all the necessary licenses.

New countries are likely a huge financial gamble for DTG. The route would cost them so much more to create due to the extra research and subsequent development of the trains, railway operations, signals and so on. As well as costing a lot more, they would almost certainly sell considerably less copies because a lot of their "core fans" only buy UK, USA and German based routes.

I think DTG will probably leave routes in new countries to the third party developers who may already be based in those countries thus making the development a lot easier.

Good idea and in a later time that route to be linked to Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr via Utrecht Arnhem Oberhausen Duisburg Railway. Amsterdam to Arnhem via Utrecht if built is 118.6 km surpassing Riesa-Dresden 105 km if it has the Flughafen Branch

France is an unused example of a test route. I actually didn’t mind tgv but I don’t think there was any variety that could be done for that route. I fell you almost need a local traffic line go off in one direction and tgv another or one where the two would interact still enabling you to max it out

    Austria.

Very, very similar to Germany in most respects, signaling system, rolling stock, even scenery assets, so little of the costs you cite would be a factor. And I suspect most buyers of German routes would be happy to include the OBB (especially since one could also add layers to München-Augsburg; the OBB runs in and out of München all the time.)

Yeah that's a good point. I guess it would be similar to how they did a Canadian route since it has similarities to US content. That probably makes Austria less of a gamble and therefore who knows if we may see something set there sooner than we think.
