I've just been reading in a rail magazine this month that Network rail have in excess of 1.5 million aerial photos of their routes taken in a helicopter and by drone to survey tracks, problems etc. It mentions that these are accessible to contractors so I thought I’d share for when the next uk route pops on the build radar if you need reference material.

Wow, I can imagine railway modellers would LOVE to have access to that collection as well!

 

Yeah, dtg having acess to Ariel photos could really help them out.

Does this give more detail than Google Maps?

 

I believe they’re survey maps. Not sure how much better than google they’d be

 

That is a wonderful shot over Glasgow, I must say.

Also that wonderful Scottish Ballast Colour. Wish that was on Cathcart.
