1st The title clearly is abit missleading i know,it has nothing to do with steam vs modern power sources. That probably already got 100 threads already. But when i refer to the good old days i'm referring to dtg earlier routes that offen but not always had more then one new train to drive. But now when we get new routes with more the one train ones new and then any others are recycled locos with extra functions(maybe)added but it still looks the same on the outside either way.I understand adding locos like this but a new route shouldn't come off looking like a add loco with some new place to drive. For all the complaining dtg gets about route and train issues,i wish this didn't have to be one of them. A new route should not only have a new place to explore but when possible more then one new way to explore it.Just like the good old days... Note:There is one exception to this if you can get a loco thats a dlc add on with a route add on instead of by itself then i would definitely consider that as a good thing.
For all the criticism Rivet get, this is part of why I enjoy their routes consistently. The new locos are always fun.
I'd actually prefer routes to come with NO trains, but when they do a train it's more like a loco pack from AP in that you get various liveries and so on, meaning the locos can be used in other places or time periods. No reason why the 37 can't be in Trainload, BR Blue, EWS, IC, DRS, Colas and Mainline in one pack without changing the internals radically (ie a repaint) With substitution and a proper consist / scenario editor it would make things much more playable This is one thing I like about third party support in TS1 (even if I don't like them forcing you to use every one of their own packs in their supplied scenarios)
Yea me to for all the heat rivet takes i love there stuff, the IOW,Arosa and Westcorn Wall(which i got before xbox store pulled it).
Whoa please don't give dtg any ideas, they have developed a knack for trying out new ideas, the last thing we need is a 30.00 route with no trains.
I haven't seen anything new from DTG in a while... And "no trains" wouldn't be "no trains", but trains not associated with a specific route but that can be used on multiple routes
