This now sounds like it might be worth a purchase. It won’t let Rivet completely off the hook regarding the 150 sounds and physics but some might say this decision - I suspect taken by DTG - gives us the route and time period it should have been built in to start with.
Two and a half cheers to DTG and Rivet for listening.

Yes, it's mentioned on the thread this is for all platforms who have the relevant Add-ons (except Epic, who will be able to when the Preserved Collection comes to the platform).

Not with this update. Honestly, it's something we'd look at after providing a solution for the PS5 add-ons issue, so it wouldn't be any time soon.

That's not Regional Railways livery it's Provincial livery.

Regional Railways didn't even launch its corporate identity documents untill November 1991.

There was still a MK1 scratch set at Exeter in 1991 that very occasionally (twice I believe) subbed on the Penzance stopper - but only to Plymouth and never on an Intercity. Anyway it had gone well before 150s appeared in Regional Railways livery

The vast majority of Intercity services were HSTs. There were a few cross country 47s on Intercity services from the Midlands - but always hauling Intercity liveried Mk2d and Mk2e stock

This is increasingly looking like a fantasy timetable I'm afraid...

Could an argument be made that once the 47 and mk2s are in livery designer, it is just about there?

I.e you can wack a virgins trains 47 in red, black and white and say its OK?

Or do you think it is upon rivet to dlc this in the new year for hsts to bring it into standard?

    Honest question,no bias either way

Just wanted to say I do commend DTG for trying to add "play value" but there comes a point when running trains from different periods damages immersion.

Why not have a 1976 layer using the Diesel Legends DLC? You could then justifiably have 47s, 45s, 31s and 52s on Intercity and stopping services - even the 101 could be justified in plain blue. That would add value without slipping too much into the realms of fantasy. This would be a better fit than Northern TP.

Not sure - the main problem is that Mk2a/b/c coaches are very different to the air cons that were running in Cornwall after 1992 so it's not just a question of repainting them.

The locos underwent minor changes too, but that's less noticeable to the untrained eye.

Supose it comes back to the pitfalls of the console sales pitch.

Are people on console (like myself) just doing a 45min run, might have radio/podcast on in background, getting some ice creams, doing the stops and treating it as a zen non authentic experience

    Or

Are console players watching every detail, full safety systems, non hud, headphones listening to the revs...

I suggest most are somewhere in the middle of the above and most likely why the title has more broader appeal than TS?

I would love to play TS however £3000 for a decent future proofed rig is a bit much, but each to their own

For those of you who aren’t familiar with British Rail rolling stock, I shall post a comparison below.

This is what we have from NTP. A MK2 A/B/C. These have openable windows and have a different window design.
    BDB7A5F2-336B-494B-B2FE-53600005939D.jpeg

The later MK2s look more like MK3s. These have aircon and you cannot open the windows on these as they are all sealed. This is what should be on WCL.
    303E0462-8570-4E04-9D56-B4ACA291528A.jpeg

As you can see, there’s quite a difference in window design and overall look. So it wouldn’t really look appropriate or realistic painting a MK2 A/B/C in Virgin Trains livery, for example.

    Thanks london,

Know what you mean about the virgin trains thing (think you are quoting one of my above responses)

However I stand by that the average console player might knock together a virgin 47 and ntp mk2 in livery designer (when available) and go...I can live with that...maybe..just

Will concede PC players with their exposure to TS would very rightly go "not up to standard"

Less we forget 2/3rds of the user base is on console, so as a console player I know this game is not for the purist... for want of a better expression

TrainSim-Matt can you confirm if the NTP 47 and mk2 will have livery designer function? This is so people can paint them into era specific livery.

    If the answer is no where is it in TrainSim-Adam list;

    Ready but not yet QA'd

    In Progress

    Not started

    Thank you in advance

It will be a bit easier for them though because they have already done the MK2s for DLGW

There were 47 hauled services to Paddington as well for about a decade after, I caught a few of them.

Might get away with a Mk2a Network South East repaint. However wouldn't the mk1s be more plausible in an Intercity blue/grey or later red stripe variant?

Fantasy maybe, but better than driving along seeing nothing else and doing nothing else. The rush hour routes are a massive step in the right direction. To bring this out just after the RH releases with two trains (one recycled) bumbling along back and forward with no variety was a big no for me. Along the way the correct liveries and such can be brought in. The route now looks like fun and a good way to spent some winter hours!

On the Mk2a/bs you would be better painting them in Network SouthEast or Regional Railways livery. Some of these did appear west of Exeter on local services and railtours, but not very often, around 1992/3. Even that is pushing reality. Regional railways coaching stock was quite rare in the West country other than on the Weymouth/Bristol route.

You could paint Mk1s into the Intercity white roof excursion livery and use them on railtours. By then they were on commonwealth bogies I think but that's a minor detail in the scale of things

It really would restore our faith in DTG (Or whatever their new name is), if they allowed the additional DLC to be reskinned in livery editor. This would be an almost ultimate spectacle DLC if they could muster this up. *Fingers crossed*

Although not perfectly authentic, I am happy with the additional layers being added. It will certainly add some variety and interest to the stock you’ll see along the route, and perhaps they can be replaced in the future when more appropriate stock is available.

IIRC there was a "leaked" image of Class 50 model a few weeks ago that may or may not be in development. Maybe WCL is its destination?

Agree, I think this will be a route to just let your hair down and enjoy a bit of diesel thrash on the main line.
In fact, in terms of the fantasy I wish DTG had gone all the way and subbed 45's on the Inter Regional services, or as suggested a few posts back gone all out with a 1976 layer and a frenzy of classic traction (though would probably need the Mark Ones skinned into Blue/Grey and a few catering vehicles).

I thought it was layered in

Also I definitely agree about the layers, just because it isn’t 10,000% Accurate doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be included.

For those (not me!) who don't like the new layers for reasons of absolute historical accuracy, the easiest solution would surely be to ship / update with two timetables - one with NTP layers enabled and another without. Can't imagine it would be that much work.

Longer term, it would probably be helpful to enable manual selection / deselection of route layers which should then suit most people one way or another.

No fantasy, Class 45s were regulars on Cross Country services to the South West in the 80s until the arrival of Class 90s and 91s allowed HSTs consists to be split into shorter sets and cascade to those services in 88/89.

Still intrigued to know of there is a livery editor available for the DLC layers being added so we can perk the route up a touch. Can this be confirmed by admin or somebody please??

Right, so I've just checked and the mk2's are not livery editable, only with great Western express and this is the same with the 101... Shame really.

Now I’ve finally decided buying it. Because I like the old diesels and the 101. It adds a nice dimension on a (hopefully) good route.

While the time period is not really of interest to me, it's a highly welcome improvement to the timetable and definitely a good step forward overall for potential future releases. DTG and third-parties must realise that a good route must remain interesting, and for a long period of time to the player. This is definitely achieved with not just having A-B runs, a busier timetable (as long as it remains somewhat accurate) with varied services, layers for UK rolling stock, and what I'm liking the most is the rolling stock in sidings to make it feel immersive.

DTG, if you can keep up with such moves in future releases, then TSW2, and the community, will be mostly happy.

I noticed the passengers disappearing into the ground when boarding the train wasn't on the list of fixes.

The list of extra changes/layers however has swayed me into buying this.
