A few days ago I refunded Rapid Transit as I wasn't happy with the sounds. It went through all right and Steam has done a few updates on starting since. However Rapid Transit still appears in the TSW2 menu and I can select a run and start driving. Has this happened to anyone else? Kind of worried that if the DLC is still there even though I have no intention of using it, might cause issues with my Steam account and standings.
No it's not in the Steam library, just the game. I'm about to check again as Steam ran a small update before loading Snowrunner, just now. Edit: Yes it's still there and just allowed me to resume the test run I started. I would like to be able to say, great I got a free DLC but I still feel a bit uneasy about it. I'm thinking the best thing would be a local file refresh, which will have to be tomorrow, see if that purges it. Edit 2: Still there after file integrity check. Oh well...
Just FYI DTG, if you're looking into this, now find the 1938 stock for the Bakerloo which I also refunded is still present and playable! If it's any help, both these were purchased and refunded in the last 4 - 5 weeks, older content which I refunded like ECW has gone. So I think you need to talk to Steam urgently about what might have changed otherwise who knows how many people will be buying, refunding but still able to play the DLC. (Edit: I have alerted Matt). Mods also feel free to do with this thread as you wish.
I can tell more info about this problem. May I private message you so no one gets any stupid ideas DTG JD?
Sorry for posting on an old thread, but, I refunded a DLC this week (I think you can tell which one from the screenshot) and it's still present and correct in the game, but not there in the menu and I've recieved the refund. I've not dealt with steam refunds before, but I have a feeling this is problem on Steam's end, in that it won't uninstall a DLC or game when the refund is given, only deletes it from your library - possibly through fear that it may break a game if it uninstalls a DLC while you're playing it. Still a bit odd, but I guess you're technically refunding the product, not returning it.
Can confirm the problem is still there. The whole thing is a bit of a mess, not only TSW but TS too. I refunded the 8F but scenarios still shown in the route menu though when I tried a test play, came up with the missing items and wouldn’t load. So a right side failure from DTG’s point of view but still a file and management mess. Back to TSW2, if you refund a DLC Steam should check the relevant folder and delete the pak files. Which is what I ended up doing manually to stay honest and legit.
Hey folks. Just wanted to check on this one - have you verified the integrity of your files on Steam, and if so, is it still an issue?
That was the first thing I did and Steam does not update or delete the pak files related to the unwanted item. I actually reported this a few months ago and appreciate it's a sensitive issue as it means people could potentially still play a refunded DLC, albeit get caught when an achievement goes through, but nothing seems to have changed. The only way at the moment to be honest is to manually delete the pak files yourself. Think Steam need a boot up the posterior from whoever the DTG liaison is...
Cheers, thank you for confirming. We've raised with Valve (have already previously done so and they've claimed all should be fine, so hopefully they'll be able to identify the issue).
if I am not mistaken Rapid Transit is the following pak file TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor-LeipzigS2SBahn.pak so if you delete just that it should not appear again if that DLC show as not owned
Correct, which is the workaround for those of us being honest. However the point here is that on refund Steam should be actively checking for the pak and deleting it.
