Travel across the iconic Forth Rail Bridge and up the scenic Fife coast from Edinburgh to the City of Discovery - Dundee, or maybe go to the 'Fair City' of Perth. Edinburgh to Dundee, situated on the Edinburgh-Aberdeen line, is approximately 36 miles and has a variety of different services such as: ScotRail Inter7City serviced by Class 43 HST and Mark 3 carriages, originating at Waverley and stopping at Haymarket, Leuchars and then Dundee LNER Azuma serviced by a Class 800 bi-mode, originating at Waverley and stopping at Haymarket, Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy, Leuchars and finally Dundee. ScotRail Commuters serviced by Class 158s and 170s, which stop more frequently than the Azuma and Inter7City services CrossCountry serviced by Class 220 Voyagers and 221 Super Voyagers, stopping at Haymarket and then Dundee. Edinburgh to Perth, situated on the Edinburgh-Inverness line, consists of mainly the same route before splitting off to Perth via Falkirk and Stirling. ScotRail Inter7City serviced by Class 43 HSTs ScotRail Commuter serviced by Class 158s and 170s, stopping at Haymarket, Edinburgh Gateway, Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy, Markinch, Ladybank, Falkirk Grahamston, Stirling and Perth. LNER Azuma serviced by a Class 800 bi-mode, stopping at Haymarket, Falkirk Grahamston, Stirling, Gleneagles, and Perth. Class 800 could be in special 'Celebrating Scotland' Livery. Proposed Rolling Stock: LNER BR Class 800 Azuma: ScotRail Inter7City BR Class 43: ScotRail BR Class 158: ScotRail BR Class 170: CrossCountry BR Class 220 Voyager/Class 221 Super Voyager:
Don't forget this wonderful piece of engineering too, the Tay Bridge just before arriving into Dundee.
The Edinburgh - Dundee line is truly one of the best in the country (Scotland, that is). Through the rolling hills of "Wonderful"* Fife, across two engineering marvels, in the Tay & Forth Bridges, and that entrance into Edinburgh Waverley from Haymarket- needs no introduction. The fun part of it all is the variety the rolling stock holds, with the IET being that modern experience, with the classic HST, and the 158 and 170 just kinda stuck in the middle. The HST could - of course - be Converted from the GWR ones, which is exactly what happened with the real ones. Great Suggestion for a Great Route.
Edinburg to Dundee needs to be in BR Era, so this livery on 47 would be possible! By the way ignore that the ScR 47 from this picture is pulling The Royal Train. It would also have the ScotRail MK2's and maybe other things from this era, Maybe also layers from NTP, WCL (for 37) and TVL.
yes definitely this route! this is THE NUMBER ONE ROUTE i really hope does become a reality in this game. I agree with the modern-era time period suggested, would love to see class 158/170 with class 43 scotrail. overall edinburgh to dundee is absolutely perfect for tsw i don't know how dtg decide which routes to pursue, but please let it be this one!
Yes please, Scotland will always get my vote, especially modern routes Exactly what I was going to say
As if I could forget that - Tay Rail Bridge and Forth Rail Bridge on a crisp winter morning as the suns rising are by far my two favourite places to be on a train.
I would love to drive this route, especially as it’s my “local” line. If I was being greedy, I’d suggest having the time period set just a few years ago so we could have the loco hauled commuter services to Fife!
Looks like you are trying to bring in another classic Train simulator 22 route that is Scottish East Coast Line Edinburgh to Dundee for TSW2.
Thank you for spotting my error. I always instinctively think Mark 4 because the Mark 3's were retrofitted to have powered doors like the Mark 4's do.
