Welcome back to the Train Simulator Screenshot Contest!

This week's theme is: Japan and China

You can vote for next week's theme in the poll attached to this thread. What is your choice?

Follow us on Instagram (instagram.com/trainsim) to see your screenshots featured on our feed!

    How does it work?

You can submit your screenshot to the thread, and every Friday we will choose which screenshots will go to the loading screens. Shortly after, we will open a new thread and announce the winners. Each week has its own theme which is voted for by the community.

    Competition Rules:
    • Limit is 2 screenshots per person; 1 screenshot per post.
    • Include in your post the route the screenshot was taken on as well as the name of the train (if applicable).
    • Screenshots must be in a 16:9 resolution, at least 1920x1080 pixels.
    • Screenshots must fit the theme of the week, as stated at the beginning of this post.
    • In order to qualify for the competition, screenshots must be taken from products published by Dovetail Games that are currently on sale.
    Other Rules:

    • Official content only. Please make sure anything that is not available on the Steam Store or Dovetail Store is not shown in the screenshot. - This means no reshade, repaint mods, track upgrades or workshop routes.
    • Your entry may be disqualified if it is deemed to not follow these rules. Please limit chat to only when absolutely necessary.
    • Competition closes at mid-day Friday (UK time). The winner will be chosen every Friday.
    • Winner's Prize: The winning screenshot will appear in the game as a loading screen for 1 week!
(Please Note since the new update which changes loading times we have decided to change it to 1 week)

    T&C:
    • Please refer the terms and conditions for this competition here:
    https://dovetailgames.com/competition-terms-and-conditions/
    • Note that by submitting an entry to this contest, you are consenting to us using your screenshot as a loading screen and showing it on our social media channels (such as Instagram)

For a moment I thought I'm out, too, then I realized, I do have the Shanghai Maglev!
First, my usual lots of green, boring shot. I like lots of green. Trees, bushes, grass. Even stripes! Not white stripes. Pun times!

I most prefer the night shots of the Maglev, though.

And me :mad:. Why not broaden it to e.g. "Far East" to incorporate far east of any country not just the chosen few who happen to have Japan / China. This theme excludes all US / UK / European route players from participating? Rant Over.

Are there even any other far eastern countries in Train Simulator that are not either Japan or China?

I was thinking more along the lines of " This train is heading to the Far East of England /USA etc.".
To us in the centre of the UK, Skegness & Mablethorpe are known locally as the Far East.

But London Calling or Austria a few weeks ago wasn't excluding? Calm down and take the week off.

On a side note, its a shame UW newest route is only on JustTrains atm, would of been perfect for this week.

I think the point of these themes is to force screenshots representing a given part of the world.
It is just as restrictive as steam trains or electric.
That being said, with the recent in-game loading ads there isn't really an outlet for these, a recurring concern. So while I participate for the sake of it, and hope the 5-10-15 of you enjoy them, I fully understand if people bleed.
Would be nice if DTG would implement a dashboard of sorts where we could browse the entries easily, fire up automatic randomized slideshows, download all shots per theme in a ZIP, stuff like that. TSW2 has such a feature, albeit rather simplistic (and terribly slow). So that there would be a reason for people to hang out.

I can't decide if you guys are trolling or really that butthurt over asia getting the "spotlight" for once, when 95% of in-game content and the forum is either US, UK or Germany anyway. The world exsist outside of those three countries, you know.

Also this. You can get back to posting your UK trains next week, in the meantime enjoy the endless content of UK routes and trains, while we have to wait years for a Japanese or other asian route.

And yeah. I'm also waiting for a Steam release to get it. But other than that, perfect timing for this topic for the release of their new route. Hopefully someone posts a few pictures of it.

Yes they were, exactly my point. I would like to see as many contributers as possible every week from as far afield as possible.
If the themes were not so narrow it would invite a lot more asian / rest of the world content every week.

Stop moaning. If competing is important to you go and buy a Japanese or Chinese route. Few themes so far have been very narrow and even if they are so what?

I don't have any suitable DLC, so I'll sit this one out, but good luck to those of you that do. I look forward to seeing something different this week.

Was hoping for more pictures from Chinese routes but it seems that is only me and one more who have pictures from China.

We had a winning picture only 4 weeks ago from Japan so I am hoping for something new(More pictures from China).

Off, sorry, can't resist :) with the intention to help improve things.
Might be a language / forum thing.
I recall some people on Steam posting Chinese pictures but it's mostly Steve with 10-20 likes a few British posts leading the Weekly.
Playing is a thing, but as far as screenies go, people massively prefer TSW over TS.
Within TS, people don't like to see lower fidelity designs, which faster routes often require.
The resulting lack of engagement can discourage people from content creation.

Foreign safety systems (and labels) might be scary for some. That's why I don't actually play my other two train sims or branch out to unknown routes randomly for a QD.

The no mods restriction might be a little problematic. Skies, weather fixes and reshade can improve even the crappiest basis, but then why would you uninstall them all just to have a relatively poor shot for a rewardless contest? (The winner screenie doesn't show up for weeks, I'm only seeing advertisements.)

I wonder if at this point it would make sense to just pick the best shot of the week. Rework / split / merge all the screenie threads and just pick their favorite every week.
