If i read the information correctly this line 24 mile, which is fine i guess. In tsw2 it not just the trip but also how you get there and unfortunately it's just more of the same. The return of the M7A&M3A(Which are fine trains)but not new to tsw 1/2 reuseing them is totally fine for this route but would it have been a major chore to add at least 1 new train?(maybe the M9A?)That what dtg has been doing lately adding at least 1 new train per route so why not here? The M7A&M3A are so similar theres already bearly any difference to speak of. Note:The one upside if there is any is getting the M7A&M3A together in a route, instead of having to pay a extra 20.00 for the M3A after paying 30.00 for the LIRR route.
Well, here's the thing. The M7A and M3A are actually different than the M7 and M3. Because both railroads have different specifications, they were built to serve the specifications of that railroad. For example, the M7A has covers on the vents because of the many leaves. They also have under-running third rail unlike LIRR's over-running third rail. It also doesn't have illuminated car numbers. LIRR does. Also the horn on the M7A and M3A should be louder because LIRR restricted their horns while MNRR didn't. While it will be relatively similar, I think it will be a good drive.
Note:I really like both the M7&M3 but when dtg has been adding at least 1 new train per route you would think there be another one available. It's sure boost a shorter route by having this.
I think this is kinda like the br 442 situation, depending on the region the trains are running in they will have different specifications, but they generally look the same, unless you go looking hard enough people aren't going to notice, you could also think of it as having a different sub-class of a train like a 377/4 or 377/1. I know it's not always possible what people want is something totally new.
I seen a train called the M9 or M9A is not likey much different then the M7A or M3A but at least it be closer to something new then not.I wonder if dtg could have considered it as well.
The M9A has not been delivered to Metro North yet so at this moment it doesnt actually run on the route. LIRR got their M9s about 2 years ago to replace many of their M3s which were in worse shape compared to Metro North's M3A fleet.
Just did some more checking on other train options and found 2 diesel options(Genesis&BL20-GH)both paired with shoreliner coaches.(for non electrafied sections. Most likely beyond the routes 24 mile limit). The full route said to be 82 miles,The lower 53 miles.(It be nice to see a map of at least where this 24 mile section is). Note:CSX is said to use this line but i'm not sure what part of the line there refering to.
When it says Harlem Line is an "add-on", does that mean an add-on to an existing route and not a standalone? If so, I'm not sure what it would be added to, LIRR doesn't seem to make much sense since it runs from Penn. Or is it an add-on because it's within proximity?
A Route Add-on means that it's just a DLC to the main game, every route made is completely separate from one another.
Okay, thanks! I'm a bit of a NYC n00b, love the subway and train systems though. So this route would be underground through Manhattan and above ground from Bronx thereon? I'm pretty excited about this!
