In my search of this forum and the manual (oh wait, there is no manual) I was unable to find the SIFA acknowledge button nor the warning light. Makes it a real challenge to drive without the HUD. I have seen others with the same question, but didn’t see an answer. I do know where the switch in the fuse box thingy (sorry for the super technical term). Thx
The acknowledge foot pedal is on the wall under the window if I remember correctly. There is no light for the Sifa just the accoustic signal. Neither Sifa nor PZB where a thing considerd for shunters when the BR 363 was originally build in the 50s. Thats why they have this lackluster implementation.
They should be standard on them because PZB was used in 1930s onwards in Germany 1963 onwards Austria ÖBB network. When built DB BR363 in the 1950s it's equipped with PZB Indusi 1954 1960 versions took this from the German Wikipedia. The lights we have on PZB is the current PZB 90 version post German reunification
While that is correct, DB in the 1950s didn't put SIFA or PZB on shunting engines, reckoning that they rarely left the yard and if they did they kept to 40 km/h or less.
A handful of those engines received a indusi I60 controller. That's also what's written in the German wiki article. Not all of them. This PZB 90 controller case we have in the cab is just the standard model all retrofitted trains have. In game it handles like a normal PZB 90 thi it shouldn't as the DB reused old Indusi I60 hardware and just changed the speed settings in the controller to lower speeds. But it only a small difference for example the I60 didn't have 500 Hz magnets and restricted monitoring. They started to develop and test Indusi in its most basic form with originally just the 2000H Hz magnets functionality to stop spads in the thirties. It was by no means a common system back then like you said. The requirement by law for PZB equipment on trains and rail lines ist even that old. Most branch lines only received theirs in the 2000s after some nasty rail accidents promoted politics to finally remove all exemptions on the requirement. Also most Main lines received their 500 Hz magnets in the 2000s. So maybe you should read some more railfan magazine and railway books about Germany before you correct me. DB tried to push out complete PZB installation as far as they could because it cost money. They are also just a company after all. So while the original Indusi started development in the thirties, PZB wasn't the common thing it is today back in the fifties and sixties. And the software also underwent many iterations before it became the PZB 90 System we know today. I by no means a expert but this topic is really interesting to read up. So if you can read German you should definitely read something about the development of German safety systems. Then you will see the pattern that before every improvement of the software and hardware was always an accident.
But there's a SiFa icon right in front of you that lights up and dimishes when you hit the pedal. Sorry, no screenshot at the moment
hyperlord really?? Please show it I have looked through the cab numerous times and I could never find it. It would be really great if you don't have to wait for the alarm.
