Hi All, I'm playing on Epic, and the Main Spessart Bahn is 50% off at the moment, I was thinking about getting it. How is the route holding up at the moment? Is the DB BR 204 any good? Both of them are having mixed reviews on Steam, so I'm a bit cautious. I'm interested in both, but scared of bugs, especially game-breaking ones.
Don't get the 204. The DB BR 204 doesn't have the right psysics and the 204 has some bugs. As for the route itself, it's alright. The 146 on that route isn't the same 146 on Riesa-Dresden so you don't the the best sounds unfortunately. Adam's team would have to add the 146 on riesa to msb. I would say get the route since it's on sale as it's not too bad but it still needs to be improved in certain areas but don't get the 204
If the 204 is very cheap, I would still get it. Depends how accurate you want it to be. As tallboy said, the physics are wrong and Rivet have stated it won't get fixed. However, it's still quite fun to drive if you can look past it's faults. The route itself is nice but old. At 50% off then certainly worth it, in my opinion.
MSB I think holds up very well (a nice challenge if you run with PZB on, and the Rampe is a challenge for heavy freight). Moreover, MSB is the mother lode for German rolling stock to layer into just about every other German route.
I can only confirm the previous messages. I personally like this route with the famous Spessart Ramp. You also have the port of Aschaffenburg which is great for shunting, turntable... with the BR 204 (useful to get access). The atmosphere is good and a good variety of gameplay.
Definitely get MSB, particularly if you are interested in more German preserved content. I wouldn't get the 204, the physics are terrible
As far as I have tried out the Riesa-Dresden's 146 can be used anywhere in service mode as a substitution to the MSB's 146. Not only on MSB but also on Hamburg-Lubeck, SKA, HRR, RRO, and possibly also on Munchen-Augsburg.
