DTG really need to update the map menu in term of function. So far I know that it can be used to find where you are at and if there are other trains on the same line as you, but it's still not that helpful. One of the things that I would like to see is the capability of allowing us the player, the option to switch track junction straight from the map, giving us more choice. Another thing that the team should add is being able to differentiate what train is on the route by hovering over the train itself which shows the description of what model the train is and where is it heading to. Another thing that the team should do is allow us railfan who enjoy the photo to have the object of choosing which location on the map they would like to snap to or go to, and be able to take photos from that location. An example would be if the player wants to jump to the next station and take an incoming bound train entering the station, all that had to do is click the station from the map and it will jump to that area, allowing us to get into position and take the picture of that incoming train. What I am trying to say here is being able to take any kind of photos wherever you click on that location from the map view. Another thing is being able to locate that object or track object or train by having a search bar and finding that object on the map view. So far these are the only idea I have so far.
If you are in a yard/depot with manual switches you can switch them from the map already. Switches on main lines are managed by the dispatcher and cannot be switched manually.
