Nice, SoS (Spirit of Steam) is what I'm really interested in seeing from this. May also see the Expansion Pack (just for the SD40) and the Creators Club too and see how they go as well (not bringing high optimisms for both of them though).

Can we NOT announce the next six routes and then delay three of them this time?
Better to leave some intrigue and actually give some good info than try to give detail and then fall short

This is the thing that’s just on Steam and not Youtube or Twitch isn’t it. I seem to remember last year the live video quality was more or less unwatchable. Will the DTG bits be recorded and put on Youtube later?

We'll stream on all platforms; there may be Steam rewards (backgrounds, icons) though for watching with Steam.

Quick note on Steam session - whilst we'll announce the route, this is very much a check-in on development so far, as we've not given you an update for a while. We are still a while off release at this stage.

We may have some WIP screenshots for you though to whet your respective whistles.

TS2022 Speedrunning sounds like an really interesting (and fun!) concept. I'm gonna make sure not to miss the segment on that.
LauraKBuzz being the one presenting it makes it even better  - I really enjoy her content and she seems like an amazing person.

Nice to finally hear some Steam Updates! I think this 'route' is probably going to be the next UK route, given the fact that it is in the cycle for a new UK route to be announced

So it's a while off yet and is the next UK release. So it's US and Germany only until the spring/summer.

Two streams for West Cornwall Local...wonder whether there will be a patch for the 150 next week? Or are the sales numbers really not that good?

It seems so. Maybe the announcement will keep us going (assuming we like steam of course). If they’ve spent all this time actually building the route it could well be something fairly substantial.

I, for one, am glad that they're taking so much time for the first steam route. I'm in no hurry and it's important that they get it right. Expectations will be high and the first effort will set the standard for future steam. In this case, time will not dampen my enthusiasm. Actually, I'm awaiting the WIP shots like a Pavlovian dog. Well I won't be actually, I mean, you know, salivating, but those first shots will be very exciting.

I'm feeling positive about getting some initial details about the route so early as it means that the community might be able to provide some helpful comments that hopefully feed back into the development process to make a better product.

Once we all know the setting and locomotives, it will be easier to target our enthusiasm, so to speak, and there may be some fans with specialist knowledge or bonus source material that can add extra depth.

So True i also am happy that they are taking their time with the steam route. As long as in the end they deliver something amazing for us. I wouldn't mind. They should take all the time they need, no need to rush at all.

To be confirmed, but they will likely be videos from our Ambassadors - we're waiting on a couple to confirm with us what they'd like to do.

We offered our Ambassadors the opportunity to create content for whatever they wanted - it so happened that two of them chose WCL.

I'd like to hope that with all the fuss about Steam we have something tangible.

I'm really hoping its not 20 mins talking about simugraph and showing us a piston and pressures schematics. I'd love to see some route screen shots and if they are able to a small clip of the loco in motion.

I'm still very nervous these steam trains wont emit much steam due to performance hits.

Might need a steam density slider in the settings.

I know this would be a long shot, but with all this excitement over the upcoming introduction of steam, I went back to TSClassic and have been having a blast in Smokebox’s excellent UP119, a classic American style 1860s locomotive, the Buffalo a 10 Wheeler of the same era and the Jupiter running on the Cheyenne 1869 and Promontory routes. Would really enjoy to see this period represented in TSW. Let’s face it, not much infrastructure scenery would need to be developed and bringing down the UP119 down from Promontory with a 2.2 grade and only handbrakes is, well, rather exciting.

Anyway, knowing steam is still a way off, having a blast revisiting steam in TSClassic intermixing PZB, LZB and now GNT runs in TSW ….

Edit - Changed SmokeHouse to SmokesBox -- was cooking some bacon and had Smokehouse brand on my mind ::)

I share the same feelings. How are they supposed to maintain a good and steady FPS with all the steam particles and animations going on? That and the fact that TSW has an audio channel limit, which is often exceeded, which cuts out sounds.

I have a feeling we may be seeing the technology that will be used for steam trains in Dresden to Chemnitz (also can be seen on Dresden Riesa)

Just out of Dresden station there is an industrial tower emitting very large amounts of smoke and it seems to have very little performance hit.

From my unďerstanding its not so much the smoke itself causing frame rate issues but how much transparency effects they apply, so this might not be as much of a problem due to how dense the smoke is that comes from steam trains

It would be great if DTG actually released the RD upgrades for UK Loco's as that will help with the wait for the UK steam route, well, for those that just buy UK routes I mean.

My worry / observation with existing trains. I’m on a 2080ti , if I’m in chase cam and you put the chase cam above the train when it’s billowing smoke it has a big hit on fps, to side of the train not so much. I just think these trains have steam all over the shop and hope we don’t get a watered down steam on newer tech
