So, I just installed a new Train Sim DLC, and I got a strange popup saying "New content installed, drive it now?" And it brought me to this screen, which seems to be a mix of Train Sim 2019 and an older version of Train Sim (I'm assuming around 2009-2014 train sim) Take a look!
Presumably not a workshop scenario you subscribed to? Do you have a link to it? Does it work normally and can you get beyond that screen?
I'm not subscribed to any workshop content, and I don't know if you can get beyond it, because I took the screenshot and a couple seconds later the game froze up, it just showed the background of the menu screen when it froze. However I can re-install the DLC I bought to see if this happens again. Update: Tried re-installing the DLC, pop-up sadly did not appear again.
Those are the scenarios that come with that loco' IIRC. The DLC had been around for a year or three when I bought it with WCML North so 2014 would be about right. Curious. What was the newly acquired DLC that prompted this?
The EWS Class 66 v2.0, and I don't think it was due to this specific DLC, as I un-installed then re-installed the Class 66 v2.0, but the pop-up did not happen again.
I have this too: https://store.steampowered.com/app/222568/Train_Simulator_EWS_Class_66_v20_Loco_AddOn/ It looks and functions fine in my TS (the scenarios in your screenshots are standard ones for the 'red' variant'). Did this only happen the once? I presume you can see the scenarios listed normally on reopening TS?
Yeah I'm not sure we're getting the whole story here, this is certainly not something I've ever heard of happening before.
Funny. The menus are made up of Flash files, with some old stuff still being in the data/scaleform folder. How this happened is very strange indeed. I saw many people on Steam forums asking how to play older versions... you did the trick!
The TS2020? splash screen will appear when you run steam in offline mode, if you fancy some time travelling...
Yes that's 2020. Maybe the file data\scaleform\RS_2013_MenuSystemMaster.swf was involved in this. Cannot check as I don't have a flash player atm. And as the swf files downlad stuff from Steam servers, maybe they made changes and you just happened to start the scenario at the instant the maintenance took place. Just speculating.
Yes it did happen once, I will give you all the details that I can. I bought the DLC, waited for it download. Opened up the game, and then on the menu I got the pop up saying "New content installed, play it now?" So I clicked on yes, it took me to the screen as seen on the screenshot, I screenshotted and then a couple seconds later, the game froze back on the menu screen, so I re-opened the game and this did not occur again, I re-installed the DLC and it did not happen again. Everything worked as intended after the bug.
I assure you, I've given as many details as I can. If you want the full story all in one message look at my message above this one.
I never ever got this "New content installed, drive it now?" message. Must be a relict from the past. There's a wormhole in your PC!
