One of a member here mention that they can't see the logs of runs they did in-game, and I was also trying to find it as well. I know that we do have somewhat a logbook when signing in for the dovetail live account, but it does show so much information. This is why i think they should also do a logbook function inside the game just like in Microsoft Flight Simulator, where it shows very important detail, such as the weather setting for that day, the train, the route that they did, along with what they start the run and finish the run. I think that the team should incorporate some idea from Microsoft Flight Simulator, but that makes sense for Train.
I would ask why I would want such information stored on my computer for any period of time... Should I be wondering what the weather was on SEHS when I did a drive two weeks ago? For some reason I really don't care...
Well since the logbook in MSFS does not work worth a flying flip, I do not think it would add anything. In MSFS it fails to record take-offs from non-towered airports, especially if you choose another runway than what the sim thinks is the “correct” one. Records two or more landings if you happen to bounce (how would I know that ). It is so bad of an implementation it is utterly useless for what is a real life requirement of a document that is required to be maintained by a pilot. If MS and Asobo can’t get a feature as important as a pilots logbook working correctly, why add a such a feature which would probably cause more angst to the user and headaches to an all ready stretched small development team. Instead of adding new features, let us request they refine and perfect the features all ready in the simulation like making a more robust dispatcher that can handle changing and fluid traffic situations.
Not interested. I did that with flight sim. The planes were only started from the recent location, where i landed. I used the a2a fleet, which gave a nice experience. It was fun, also to review the journey after a world tour with the constellation and look where i made stops. 8 hour legs over the algerian desert down to nigeria. Got a bad crash at iceland where my plane droped down a cliff during a start because too heavy . Wrong calculation of the weight. Anyway in tsw i cant see why a log book would be useful. Everybody is interested can make an excel file for each route or overall and just update it after every run. I dont see a need to waste ram or cpu for a game implementation. I rather see the use of the performance ressources for driving / train relevant features.
Why do folk seem to think MSFS' features are the be all and end all of simulation. They're not. Just because MSFS has it, doesn't mean TSW needs it. Log Books (particularly for weather settings would just be a waste of resources, use Excel or something, it's free online.
A log book would be an awesome addition, it would be great to see at a glance which services you've ran, how face you've travelled and how many hours you've driven for. If you arent interested in it then just dont use it - just like many of us wont use the Creators Club.
You can get some of this through the player profile screen. Not "how long", but how far broken down by route or train, and the timetable shows you which ones you've run and haven't, presuming you got even a bronze medal for doing so
