The P42 was designed by Amtrak and hauls most of its long distance passenger trains. It is a much needed dlc but there is no route long enough really for it to come on. This is why I suggest it to be for SPG. Every American route it has the possibility to go on. Either drivable or AI. Every owner of train sim world owns sand patch and it runs 2 services on here. It could then layer on to routes adding the bonus services. After it has appeared and layered on to routes it will be worth the cost eventually adding several new services. This is a solution until it is possible to have a home route. If it ever does. The P42 in Amtrak 50th an
Problem is that SPG only has 1 station. The route would have to be extended another 40-50 miles to Connelsville. If DTG really wants to add the P42 to TSW, they need to do a busy corridor train like Amtrak Midwest (before they were replaced by chargers) or Amtrak Downeaster, or resort to making a VIA Rail route
they could do the Amtrak Downeaster for TSW 2 I would definitely like to see that route come to life and they could add MBta scenarios on that line as well.
It's strange how we accept a freight service starting or finishing at a red but we can't stomach a passenger service doing the same isn't it.
It’s because there are way more passenger stations than there is yards. Besides, I don’t think SPG is the right route to have a P42 on. We all gotta remember it can go 110mph. Going 40mph for the entire run would be very boring. We don’t want another Clinchfield situation where we get the infamous F7 on a beyond boring route. There are definitely other routes out there that are much better fitting than SPG to introduce the P42 on
The Pacific Surfliner could be another perfect route for the P42DC Genesis, although the P42DC would probably be added as a DLC since the Siemens SC44 Charger would most likely be included in the base route.
Not really. As a local of the surfliner, neither the LOSSAN Corridor nor the Coast Line get frequent P42 traffic. Especially the LOSSAN Corridor. It used to be seen on the single level surfliner sets and traditional sets while the F59's were being replaced. But once the chargers fully entered service, they became a lot less frequent. I'd go as far as saying that there are almost no P42's running on the southern line. The North Line only sees the Coast Starlight which only has 2 services, making it very illogical
Honestly, I think the P42 should be for Horseshoe curve, when it releases. Both terminuses, Altoona and Johnstown, have Amtrak stations for the Pennsylvanian, and from the screenshots, it looks like at least Altoona’s is modeled.
