On the back wall of all the EMD locomotives there is a big red "emergency" fuel cut off button, that one is used to shut down the engine usually. Or you could turn off the fuel pump switch.

The AC4400CW has an engine stop switch on the back of the cab, which does what it says.

If anything else, you'll want to remember to turn off the lights and set the handbrake when shutting down these locomotives.

Thanks pschlik, that was pretty straight forward. I saw the stop button but i wasnt sure if its the right way to shut down the engine especially when it had "emergency" displayed. I just dont want to "misuse" it haha cheers again

Just turn the locomotive isolation switch to Start/Stop then push STOP button. Then apply handbrake on locomotive but this should be done first after ensuring the locomotive brake is ON.

Then turn the battery switch off.

The more advanced locomotives like the AC44 might need to have a few circuit breakers shut off first before shutdown. And some circuit breakers cannot be turned off such as turbo lube (I think this is hard wired in the older SD40 models etc to prevent the turbos from over heating).

There are some manuals on the internet which should be easy to find and easy to read with shutdown procedures.

Usually to shut down a locomotive there is an isolation switch. Fuel cutoff is never used unless its an emergency and same with emergency shutoff. Only idiots use that (EDIT I just noticed in the US locos it is the same switch-sorry!). And this comes from a real life locomotive operator.

Dude, the only ways to stop the engines in TSW is to kill the fuel pump. The isolation switch isn't going to do anything and AESS is not implemented.

Would reversing the cold start procedure do the trick?

was thinking that too. But not sure. Sometime is just easy as pressing 1 button to shut down the loco hence im asking.

If the locomotive is not on fire or exploding, stop it by applying brakes and hand brake, set isolation switch as I already stated then press stop. Then pull circuit breakers and Battery Switch.

    It is that easy.

Perhaps, but TSW is supposed to be a railroad simulator, so such shortcuts or work-rounds don't strike me as very appropriate.
