I am having issues with several of the career scenarios of the York Peterborough Modern. [7Hills.03] The Capitals Mail - After leaving the station at the start and joining the mainline the train just grinds to halt. [7Hills.04] Northern Stopper - The scenario doesn’t complete properly and award you. [7Hills.07] Heck Tripper Part 1 - Also not completing correctly. York - Doncaster Works - The first signal at the start Y153 stays on red. Any ideas anybody? I’m guessing it’s a software issue, is there away of uninstalling the said scenario and reinstalling rather than uninstalling everything? Is there a way I can flag my issues up directly with the developer (there’s another thread regarding problems of ghost trains and permanent red lights but no solution). Any help thanks.
I have just tried this scenario & it works fine for me. Just a thought are you used to driving the Class 86? Reason for asking is if you just apply power as you would in other locos it trips out and as you say grinds to a halt. This beast has a completely different way of driving it (Tap Changer) My apologies if you are already aware of this, just thought I would mention it as a lot of newcomers fall foul of this. Could you provide a bit more detail as to why you can't complete. Haven't had chance to run this one yet. Will have a look later.
Hmmmm.. quite right, not sure why. I would imagine one of the surrounding Ai trains has been given the wrong priority. That could result in all around sitting waiting for everyone else, result Stalemate. I might be able to have a play at some point and find a workaround [EDIT] Problem solved you need to manually change the points ahead of you to set your route. Y153 changes to a yellow aspect and you can get on your way.
I'm guessing it's not a software issue, if it was I would have not been able to complete them all with maximum points. I would suggest you re-visit them and check at each stop whether you are:- a) stopped in the right place b) you are within the 1 minute timeframe allowed. c) before you move on check in the map view for the required tick. Good luck
It's not fair to the developer of this Add-on, stating that there were problems with the scenarios just because you did not succeed. There is nothing problematic with the scenarios, in fact I find them being very well crafted. Try again, and use the F1 overlay to check your orders.
I give up What part of THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THESE SCENARIOS are you not understanding? Nobody else apart from you is having a problem with these scenarios, so it is a developer issue? Well may I suggest you don't post on this forum asking for help, and instead email the developer direct. Good luck with that
Calm down Craigie. Not worth ruining your day. I just looked at the store page for the pack and feel sorry for Seven Hills for the thumbs down people gave, they put a lot of work into this pack, even adding bonus repaints and I enjoyed every scenario. Feeling like Richie now
It just does my head in when you spend an evening trying to help someone, and they just blatantly refuse to accept that the problem might be just them. As you say I ran 3 of those scenarios last night and to be honest (like yourself) thoroughly enjoyed them, apart from the one where you have to manually change the points, I blame the developer LOL.
It doesn’t for me, I get the thick red line and that’s it, I don’t get any star or even a green tick.
Exactly, You and you alone, nobody else, so how can it be the software / developers fault? Because you have failed one of the tasks en - route. (which has already been explained to you but you have chosen to ignore) Again the fact you can't complete it is down to you the driver NOT THE DEVELOPER! We have tried to help and show you where you may be going wrong but you have chosen not to take our advice and continually blame the software / developer. Your choice? That goes for me too.
Thanks for taking your time at looking at the scenarios but I’m not on my own as Deltic1954 flagged a similar issue that I’m having with one of the scenarios , their thread is further down the techs page. And I’m not blaming the developer at all! I want to know if I can uninstalling this scenario add-on and re-install it in case the software got corrupted at a server. I know I can uninstall everything but uninstalling 100GB of software and reinstalling it is time consuming and problematic.
The Class 86, I pulled out of the station, I used 100% power otherwise the train would not move as soon as it moved I knocked it back to 60% then 29% I got a maximum of 8.6 mph which slowly went to zero on the mainline, at this point I could not get the train to move. Please tell what am I doing wrong??
Exactly what you don't do, as I said earlier you overloaded the traction motors. Set to 60% and then quickly tap up 2 / 3 times each time letting it drop back to 60% watch the green / yellow / red bands (ammeters) on the dash. as they start to drop back tap up again 2/3 times keep doing this and your speed will increase. keep them well away from the top of the Yellow / Red. If you overload you have to wait for the power / traction levels to all fall back to Zero and then press overload reset. I suggest you try finding a you tube guide on how to drive the 86./ 87 they are both pretty well the same.
I don't believe re-installing is going to change anything, the scenario will either run or it won't. If you really want to go to those lengths simply Untick, wait a bit then Re-tick the scenario pack in the Steam Client./ Properties / DLC page There is certainly no need to re- install everything, that would be like changing the Hard Drive on your PC just because a Word Document won't open. Err sorry but at no point has anybody called you a LIAR, all we have done is try to help.
Thank you, I’m going to persist with getting the 86 up to full speed and re-run all the other scenarios checking points ahead and tasks, I’ve seen the ghost trains that Deltic1954 mentioned. Thanks for the video which is a real help.
It is a simulator after all, and reading the manuals and watching youtube videos - generally showing interest will save you from frustration.
Never thought about YouTube but I’ll check that out in the future, where do I find the manuals? I’ve just completed Heck Tripper parts 1 & 2 (Gold Stars both) Part 1 I’d dropped the wrong trailers off and coupled the wrong ones up. doh Part 2 I set all the points correctly before leaving Heck Departure. The scenarios are a little more complex than I’ve been used to hence my frustration. Apologies.
