Its not about the loco... I want to see what you say if they do like they have done with the 187... Big bugs that do not get fixed...

For me it is not a big thing. 1 mile is about 1,6 km, 1 yard is about 1m and 1 foot is about 30 cm. I can calculate it in my mind by reading the articles. :)

I do that since simulations like Energy Airforce Aimstrike, Over G Fighters and Apache Air Assault. Only the russian СУ 27, СУ 33, МИГ 29 and Ми 35 had metric units.

The difference there is that 1 seamile is about 1,8 km.

I think the correct terms for that is Nautical Mile, sorry didn't mean to be a grammar police, cheer.

Complicating things is the fact that the game thinks a mile is 2000 yards (which is a nautical mile...). In fact, I strongly suspect that the game's "yard" and "meter" are identical.

Anyway, the most useful yardstick for me is speed (the thing one actually deals with when driving): 60mph = ~100km/h; 160 km/h = ~ 100 mph. Fast freights run at about the same speed: 75 mph/120 km/h

A bit story here, i live in a metric unit country when it comes to distance (kilometre and metre for road & railroad) and speed (kilometre per hour) measuring.

But, in TSW, i mostly drive US Freight Route which use imperial units, and i cope with it easily. Funnily enough, when i drive let's say France and German routes which use metric unit, i feel difficult to judge distance and speed. Missing station stop so many times

I think that's because i'm too often play US Freight Route.

You have completely right. I "created" a english version of the german "Seemeile". Nautical Mile is definitely the right term.

The german word is "Seemeile". That's the background of my mistake.

I remember this route's debut in Train Sim 2012 with the new TSX engine which at the time was a massive upgrade to the engine with realistic weather effects (Which some may argue are still superior to TSW2)

The TS version included the F7 and GP7 locos, a bit bummed the F7 isn't being included in this version (although there's nothing stopping you creating a scenario using CRRs F7)

How did you come up with this assertion given that when you switch units, the number of yards/meters changes appropriately?

What kind of shunting operations are there on this route? Just curious

As much as I want to see more period/fallen flag routes in TSW2, Horseshoe in TSW2 will be set in present day, so there was no need/place to include the F7 anyways.

That last screenshot… Talk about ending a good article on a low-note, but overall it looks and sounds promising.

That said, lately there have been a bit too many freight routes set in the American wilderness. All of them are justified additions but the amount is getting imbalanced against passenger routes. It doesn’t help how Rush Hour’s NEC still feels unplayable thanks to the way its safety systems are at odds with the timetable. Yes, NY Harlem is coming, but don’t forget to fix NEC.

    The problem is twofold:
    1) American players, peculiarly, really like freight. This is a market DTG can't ignore
    2) To do a US passenger route means getting a licence from a commuter-rail TOC, and so far DTG have only managed three (CalTrain, MBTA, and NYMTA). Amtrak is all well and good, but most Amtrak routes would be boring AF since there are only two to four tpd, running through that same wilderness. There's a LOT of wide-open space here.

And you could also add that there just isn't much passenger routes in US, at least not in present day?

Freight is pretty much the main reason a lot of the US rail system survived (except maybe in the Northeast) isn’t it?

And while the freight experiences may be similar, so, too, would a lot of the passenger experiences. Of the top 10 busiest commuter railroads in the US, six are based primarily on the electrified Northeast Corridor: Long Island Railroad (already in-game), NJ Transit (probably coming in the future given the DLC in TS Classic), Metro-North (coming soon), SEPTA (no idea how easy their licensing dept is to work with), MBTA (already in-game), and MARC. Cal-Train is one of the biggest but that’s already in the game.

Something like the Austin Capital MetroRail could be awesome and provide a new and different American passenger rail service, with its street-running and tram-like service. Licensing-dependent, of course.

I’ll just chime in and say I for one want them to keep releasing as much US freight as possible.

I like passenger as well but definitely prefer freight, SPG is still my favourite route. I know some people don’t like the low speeds but I love working my way up a grade and trying not to screw it up, prefer that to chasing the clock all day on the passenger routes. Mix up the long freight runs with a bunch of local and switching yard stuff and I’m happy.

And as others have mentioned a lot of the problems with US passenger routes in the game is the problem with US passenger routes in real life. Most of them are too long for the game (Amtrak outside of corridor) or commuter routes. There are plenty of commuter routes I’d love too (Marc, Metra, GO Transit) but I’m sure their inclusion will depend on licensing and/or whether or not any of their routes translate to interesting gameplays

That, and the Staggers Act getting the ICC's boot off the industry's neck. Oh, and Amtrak taking the money-hemorrhaging passenger business off their books.

Making several runs with US locomotives on TSW2, i noticed the following:

CSX AC4400 is the more detailed locomotive!
At least on the little ones
    I mean:
It is the only one that have fuel quantity indicator working, and the bell its move!
Ok we know that is due to it was the first locomotive for TSW.

But running it on SH, I noticed another great detail:
The reflective tapes at the side... works!
    Look:
    CSX AC4400 - REAL REFLECTIVES.JPG

But none of 3 mentioned ones, works on the SD70ACE

    SD70ACE NO RELECTIVE.JPG

Despite of the tank fuel quantity and the bell moving are not visible if you look very close to them, the reflective one it is a very nice touch!

Unfortunately in my case the CSX locomotive suffers headlight "deformation" due to strange visual, that was not in the original locomotive, this effect happened after a TSW2 update since last year!
    Look:
    CSX UGLY LIGHTS.JPG
    Closer
    CSX UGLY LIGHTS CLOSE.JPG

As you can see they look like "pentagons"!
    Really ugly!

I suffer this really bad visuals also on the RT Talent!
    RT SBAHN - LIGHTS.JPG
I have mentioned this before, I believe someone else must be "suffering" too, but despite of several game updates, it is still there!

Despite it is mentioned Horseshoe Curve's traffic it includes double stack container trains...- which it is true on real life - there is no one picture of a train with that type of freight cars.
    Really strange!
May be they not be included in the route?...

For anyone curious about actual mainline traffic on the route, you can checkout VRFs cam on the Curve itself.

But from some software update, last year... those ugly visuals started to happen!...
Only on just 2 locomotives / trains
I have several DLCs but not with this problem

DTG don’t do alt liveries, except for special one offs like Amtrak 662 and Trainbow. The exception is Sand Patch (and GWE, secretly). - but those were the first two routes done and, as Sam has said, Sand Patch was in development for two years and they threw the kitchen sink at it.

However, Creators Club is coming, and there are some really talented livery artists out there. WavyDavey has done an awesome set of NS heritage liveries for the SD70

They really should include the beast in PRR livery as part of this. Such a great looking locomotive!
