So I have just picked TSW 2, southeast highspeed, the BR class 465 and London Brighton off steam for about £20.49 Not bad price at the moment. I do have tsw on the ps4 and ps5 (all dlc's). I've decided to try it on the pc but only buy only the UK dlc. I will only get new dlc when its on sale. Its for a long term project. Just basicly it does play but what do you think about the PC specs I am using. Its fairly new about a year old. It runs train sim okay. But what would your advice be for the options. My specs are below. Cheers in advance. Hentis. CPU and Memory: Intel Core i510400 processor. Hex core processor. Processor speed 2.9GHz with a burst speed of 4.1GHz. 16GB RAM DDR4. Hard drive: 500GB SSD storage. Graphics: Dedicated graphics. NVIDIA RTX 2060 with 6GB memory GDDR4. Interfaces and connectivity: 6 x USB 3.0 ports. Ethernet port. 2 HDMI ports. 1 VGA port. 1 DVI port. Wireless/Wi-Fi enabled.
Put tsw2 on Ssd, it helps with loading times and more importantly stuttering. Anyway for options try what fits you the best, for some people its more about fluidity, for other about good graphs. Your rig should be OK as long you dont push it too much (or dont try Sherman hill and its dreaded grass..) I have a slightly more powerful pc and have really no problem (I7 10700, 2070, 32go Ram)
I have an I7 4770 at 3.5Ghz, 24 Gb RAM and a GTX 1650 (not super) graphics card with 4Gb of Vram. It runs most routes very well apart from Sherman as mentioned and BML can pause when running at speed with sound dropouts but that’s a problem across all PC specs I think. The game engine and some routes are still in need of serious optimisation. My biggest anxiety at the moment is Spirit Of Steam which I’m really looking forward to but after Sherman seriously concerned my current PC won’t cope. That is exacerbated by the ongoing hardware shortages which make sourcing a new PC difficult and expensive. Even if I could get hold of a RTX 2060 or RTX 3060 my current CPU and motherboard are old and incapable of further update, so would just bottleneck things.
Im not completly sure, i had a i5 6500 and swithed from an older graphics card to 2070 and it was a good stepup despite mine old cpu being less good than your I7. Even on a heavy cpu sim like P3D. And the couple i5 6500 and 2070 worked well with TSW2.
Might be worth a try but the catch is due to the ongoing hardware shortage and the bitcoin farms still snapping up what does become available, still hard to get hold of at a reasonable price.
Thanks guys. I have MS Flightsim installed with the odd bit of DLC on the SSD and somehow have to move it off as I need to update it and have no room on the SSD for it. I am only going to be using UK routes on this (although I have SPG and SKA on as its TSW 2). I bought Southeastern Highspeed, London Brighton and the 465 as well as this morning I bought the Class 313, Great Western Express and the Great Western 1970's pack . So will eventually pick up most of the UK content in sales. Regards Hentis
Be aware that for using 313 you need East Coastway route.(even if 313 adds some services to London Brighton route) By the way, I agee with OldVern, dont restrain yourself to British routes, German stuff is amazing and have a lot to offre in simulation (not easy to learn but rewarding safety system for ex.. )
Your PC is similar in spec to my laptop so it should handle everything fine. I was pretty surprised how well it runs on that. I‘m actually doing a similar thing to you but in the opposite direction. I currently have everything on PC (Except the 187) and I‘m building up my collection on console by picking UK and German DLC up in the sale. I mostly game on PC, but recently have been enjoying playing on the console sitting on the sofa a lot more.
Your spec. can hold this game absolutely well. 500g storage is adequate. I’m using a 512g SSD and allocates 220g for tsw2 alongside other games like ETS2 and ATS. Only download routes and trains that I would like to play. Btw the vram of rtx2060 is GDDR6. GDDR4 is outdated

Yeah I already have all the dlc for TSW 2 on the PS5 and the PS4. So for the PC im just restricting myself to the UK stuff. I plan to get eastcoastway if and when it goes on sale. Regards Hentis
I've got a similar spec to the OP (except an older 4790K 4GHz) - you don't say if you have a 4K screen, but I do and can run most routes at 30-40fps in Ultra settings. If you 'only' want HD, your rig should breeze it!
No 4K screen, just running in HD which is ok for me I have the PS5 and a 60 inch 4K Tv that'll do well lol Hentis.
