In honour of Sam's stream today I tried the HST on Cathcart and indeed it is true that it does not derail! Great - if slightly mad - fun, and the full Cathcart circle on 9 minutes. I am sure I could do better as I was needlessly cautious at the start and finish.. I wonder what the fastest Glasgow Central > Glasgow Central time might be? Driving what?
Slightly off topic, but the hst on wsr is great for a bit of bobsleigh like fun. And you can de-rail on one or two curves.
I've not had one. By definition its "off the rails" so there should be little other traffic unless you add it yourself
So - you CAN derail a HST on Cathcart, especially is you exceed about 110mph around Maxwell Park! Timing the braking at the end of also interesting. The official clock starts with turning the key, and you have to open and close the doors (which adds about 2 minutes). My best time so far, going clockwise, is.8:28, so about 6:30 from wheel start to wheel stop. Very beatable I think. The challenge will be to do the whole thing, key turn to doors close on arrival, in under 8 minutes. Just about possible?
I do my runs in the native train for the circle. I set them up in Scenario planner with only one stop - at the end.
