Why am I here? I am in need of information on how to possibly restore a TSW2 engineer profile. The profile I seek to restore was removed by the Create/Add/Switch profile function on the UI after I created a new profile. Looking in to this has raised questions not covered in manuals. The profile removed was a level 72 engineer so, yeah, I want it back. I takes years to get to that level. The UI would not allow me to reuse the profile name (with message <already in use>). I want to infer, since it knows that, then perhaps the actual profile is still around somewhere. But where does one look ? Database? Text config files? I am also curious why the UI removed the profile. Is there a limit on the number of profiles ? I had two, and was adding a third which the UI let me do. However, the UI also removed one at the same time. If there is a limit, and given nothing in the TSW2 manual advising of that - certainly the UI would caution and confirm before deleting a profile. I want to believe it is still there somewhere. I need to know where to look. Do developers monitor this forum? I realize this is not a glamorous problem to think about. However it is quite an annoying issue to me. Any assistance that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. So, thank you in advance.
Yeah, I don’t fancy your luck getting that back. Delete means delete. Level 70 isn’t that hard to get to, either
If you made backups, you could recover it easily. Maybe you should read the TSW2 Starters Guide, which gives you good advice and ToolkitForTSW which has a backup tool included. Get them here: https://www.hollandhiking.nl/trainsimulator
Right, well it sure did take me a while to do it. Apart from that, I agree with you it is likely I won't get it back. I'm getting noisy about this because of all the things programmers and project leaders and time-to-marketers can rationalize - losing customer data is not among them. That's a crime in the software business. If I deleted it by accident or on purpose or whatever , that is one thing. Shame on me. But no, the TSW2 UI deletes profiles when you create new ones WITHOUT warning. One could argue there are different expectations for game products. Not to me. Force me to eat your bugs - ok I forgive you. But do not destroy my data. Otherwise, how ya doing man? Have a great day. Its all just a thaing.
with the exception of the holland hiking thing, I looked at the rest of that stuff before I posted. The backup tool seems to back up by "game." The profiles are part of TSW2. I did not get the idea the backup tool was of any use for backing up TSW2 itself. There is no mention of the profiles in those manuals by the way. just controllers and setting up engines.
