I've downloaded, tested, and deleted the demo. Wake me when freight services and , more importantly, shunting activities are available in demo form or at least videos. I'd also like to be able to try a demo of the other aspects of this sim, especially its dispatcher mode ( I think that's the correct term).

A week after the demo released they said they'd be updating it to include a freight run, but as before they're crap at PR so it's not clear when this will be.

I think that the simrail as it stands is a disaster. Nothing which would recommend it over the tsw2.

If you're going to point out that a poster has just stated an opinion, you'll have a busy time. Everyone posts opinion all the time, that's kind of the point. Everyone has opinions and they will frequently be at odds with what other people think. No need to dive in to point that out.

I downloaded it the other day and uninstalled it within an hour, just wasn't impressed with the graphics and the flickering was just too much to bare, much worse than in TSW2.

I'll keep an eye on it though to see if things improve over time and if any UK content is released.

Steam tells me that the SimRail prologue "doesn't look like other things you've played in the past. As such we don't have much information on whether or not you might be interested in it."

The only two games I own on Steam are TS and TSW2!

Let me guess SNCB HLE28/HLE29 BBD EU43 PKP designations for E186. Missing here is the Afb switch on the left leg

Release date on Steam was switched from 2021 to TBA. Pretty sure its not gonna release 2021 then.

That freight run looked pretty good to me. So from what I can see, the prologue version releases tomorrow via steam- looking forward to it.

I am looking forward to second demo but very cautiously. I would like to see them sticking to the stated system requirements on their steam page. So would like to see game properly running on recommended requirements with high graphic settings. Not everybody has a super power computer.

First impressions on the second demo aka Prologue: very buggy, bad performance, bad optimization.

Just had a v quick play with the freight service .... feels v nice, performance is smooth and OK for me so far (i77700K, nvid1080) - I haven't tweaked any graphics settings. However, I haven't travelled the whole route yet, so the performance/fps may change.

The sim has a nice feel, it feels as if you're hauling a heavy load. The sounds are great, even down to the birds singing in the background. The train/track sounds are quite bassy which is doing the trick as well - something that is missing in TSWs sounds.

I must admit, I'm looking forward to doing some route building with this - a UK route with a real dispatcher/signaller (simsig style) sounds good to me! I guess it will be a while until we get 3rd party involvement regarding UK assets/rolling stock, but I guess there's no harm in constructing the trackwork/foliage etc in preparation.
Look forward to the full release..

Does the Traxx really sound that annoying in real life? If so, they did a good job on the sound, however neither the Traxx nor the EMU are really my cup of tea. That is also partly due to the control logics. I also really do not enjoy 30km/h drives around a boring landscape at all. Still the sim does have potential.

    What bugs do you encounter?
For me the game is far better than demo v1, it flows much better now at 40+ fps with everything set to max.
Traction physics are good, brakes needs a bit more work. But while driving you can feel the weight of the train on a uneven track / lots of small down/up gradients.

I like the way you interact with dispacher and the brake test you do before start. Driving at night is simply beautiful. Still work in progress and I guess the final game will be released next year (a bit delayed) Draw distance is still to short in my opinion, only 1200m.

I like the scenery (nature). The forest is like a forest.

I'm afraid this is going to be a mostly multiplayer experience. I do not expect to see in-game timetables similar to those from TSW, but only scripted scenarios (in a limited number). / Authentic sounds, although samples appear to be of low quality (kHz). / The game controls are quite eccentric, but you can get used to them. / Optimization could be a bit better (but it's a visible improvement over the first demo). / The game feels great and authentic. The night looks very good. It promises to be a good train experience. / BR o7

I'm defintely looking forward to the multiplayer, should add some must needed randomisation/variety in train simming.
Agreed with the forest comment, it does feel quite immersive but maybe the grass objects could be slightly better. I'm sure this will be improved in time.
Train physics feel v realistic, plus I really like the 'bobbing' motion + the brilliant sounds.
    Great job so far.

These are just my thoughts, but I think, that if there will be more countries coming to SimRail 2021, they will be mostly from eastern Europe, like Czech Republic or former Soviet Union countries. (Baltic countries would be nice.)

It's open for modding, so we'll most likely see many countries, don't worry. Anyway, it's a nice change from the usual three!

It's in their plans they've said, but then the game is named 2021 and isn't out yet so we'll see.

If that were to be the case then the game will have these locomotives EU46 Vectron for Heneglo Bad Bentheim Reppen (Repezin) Freight and EU44 Taurus Wien Hbf Breclav Bohumin Warsaw (Warschau) or Berlin Frankfurt Am Oder Reppen (Repezin). Remember the original version of Simrail is Simkol used by Polish Railways PKP.

How so, no one has built them yet...or am I missing a "new sim" expectation?
Anyway, the "Electric Blue wtf fencing lol" will be enough to feed the waiting haters.

Those two locomotives should be in the pipeline for Simrail 2021 if they have a future roadmap

How about the Vectron EU46 EU44 Taurus the DTG version might be it's Austrian sister the 1216 which ends up running late night service on Main Spessart Bahn 01:51 or 02:01 Aschaffenburg-Lohr trip where it uses the connector line to Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover Würzburg. If one stands on RRO Hagen Wuppertal route in 2011-2014 the EU44 will be the locomotive in front of EN436/437 Jan Kiepura assuming it did an earlier freight service to Emmerich Am Rhein the border station on Hollandstrecke Duisburg-Oberhausen-Arnhem.

Good idea because you can compare the two games side-by-side. there are others that are saying on the YouTube comments that it's going to beat both TSW2 and TS22 from DTG.
Some of the locomotives that the game might have are PKP EU46 Vectron and EU44 Taurus ES64U4 both are Capable of Running the Hollandstrecke Duisburg-Oberhausen-Arnhem Railway. DTG versions of those Polish Railways PKP locomotives are ÖBB1293 and ÖBB 1216 DB BR193 & 183 neu

Don't know if it can beat TSW2 at the moment, but there are certain things that made me confident about the future of this game:

    1) Graphics: I wasn't too convinced by the screenshots, but I have noticed myself graphics are not that bad at all. Needs some polishing, but in some parts it's already better than TSW
    2) Simulation: even with the the demo, it seems that Simrail is a bit more focused on simulation. In particular, I really like the dispatcher simulation

The textures are sharper on the left side. You probably won't see it when viewing the image on a small screen (e.g. on mobile), but on monitor the differences should be clearly visible after enlarging the image (and if still not, then view it with 200% scale).

No, they don't look much different, but there is a good FPS boost for the same image quality.
It will also be healthy to not compare TSW with SimRail, two totally different games by very different companies.

Own both, why not. Plus DR Simulator fot the 1960's vibe.

Really excellent point and I'm wondering what you meant with DR Simulator. For that game are you referring to the East German state Railway Deutsche Reichsbahn DDR 1960s Riesa-Dresden and Tharandter Rampe Dresden Karl Marx Stadt (Chemnitz). Can you please find a video for that game for me because when I searched it up it ends up redirecting me to Doctor Simulator
