Morning all, just seen this today. Is this potentially a new developer doing some practice and appetite scoping?
Which route would it run on though? Maybe just practise for another project in future though, let the speculation begin!
I'm not familiar with this creator so I'm not sure which routes they have made in the past but I imagine if they do make a route with a class 87 it will be somewhere along the WCML.
I did suggest on Matt's epic 5hr stream that they just build an 86/87 on we could just raz it around Cathcart! I know it's not realistic etc but it would be fun! Could also run it on the London 1/3rd of GWE
I do wonder whether the developers get incentivised to build for tsw at some point by DTG. There's a whole new generation of users to the sim (myself included only in the last 2 years or so) that new devs will be able to tap into.
Paint it in Caledonian colours and use it to pad out Willesden yard? Given Glasgow is already in the game, perhaps a Glasgow - Carlisle route would be a sensible choice. Not much complex scenery and a nice high speed run.
I think it holds as much water as all those devs who put other TS1 models in UE4. Anyone can download UE4 and render their models in it - why does it automatically mean the dev is working on stuff for TSW? Considering some devs have gone "it's not worth the effort"...
It would be great if it was coming to TSW, I will certainly be getting it for TS1. I wonder why they would bother mentioning it and UE4 in the same sentance, if they had no plans to use it in UE4, unless it is just a tease and to get people talking! Something like Glasgow to Carlisle would be great to see in the sim. Speaking of third parties I wonder what Just Trains will do about providing stock with their routes? Certainly for the last few years they haven't released any items of stock, I think the person who build the steam engines like the BR standards and the V2 is no longer with them, and I think the last more modern UK train they released was the Voyager advanced or maybe the class 67. Will they build routes to use DTG stock on or will they start building stock, or, will they get a third party, like Waggonz to provide the stock?
Doesn't sound like it is anything more than just trying it out. This was a reply to can we port it into TSW.
Perhaps this is just their way of letting DTG know that they are interested in producing content for TSW2
I was not expecting you to go and find it, I was just trying to convey that Matt might have seen this suggestion
What it needs is the arrival of its Home TS22 Classic WCML over Shap. DLC Class 370 APT Max speed 155 mph. If you look at TS22 forums there is a discussion on how to operate a Class 87 electric locomotive.
Maybe just trains is involved with a route and the 87 is made by some 2nd party dev. Pure speculation.
87s weren’t used on the GEML (aside from the occasional freight in later years). It went straight from 86s to 90s. Euston - Crewe or Crewe - Carlisle would be my preference. That feels a long way off, though, in terms of route length. Maybe Crewe - Preston.
Guys. They've already confirmed they're not working on stuff for TSW - why are you still speculating they are?
I believe they've run a few railtours, an 87 will be running the WCML and GEML on a tour next month, though these are very rare, the last one was over 15 years ago I believe.
