    I have just purchased a new PC, the spec is a Intel I9 12th gen CPU, 32GB 3200 DDR, RTX3070TI GPU all installed on a 1TB intel 670 m.2 drive. O.S is Windows 11
I re downloaded through steam and start the game in 64bit mode. The game tries to start then bombs out with an out of memory error
    Saved log to...

    E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\TempDump\

    Exception Code: 0xC0000005

    Exception Info: OUT OF MEMORY

The system is unable to run this scenario on the current configuration, we suggest either lowering the graphical quality settings or attempting to run the game in the 64-bit version, if this fails to resolve the issue please contact our Customer Support Team at https://dovetailgames.kayako.com
I have validated the file download through steam with no errors.
    Any ideas?

I'm getting the same thing and it crashes Steam as well as TS2022. Still tinkering to try and resolve but not achieved yet!!! I'm still on Win 10 and staying on it.

I'm still on Windows 7 and after doing a lot of cleaning up workshop and asset wise, I have not experienced an OOM in a long time. Try updating your drivers, maybe the new PC needs some updates first (it might have been standing in some shelf for a while). Then try to reinstall the stuff in RailWorks\Install (DX9, dotNet, VCRedist, PhysX.) Then delete RailWorks\Content\PlayerProfiles.bin and try again.

And maybe you still have workshop subscriptions, unsubscribe them all! (Via Steam Game Properties -> Workshop tab)

Then check if the game starts, and resubscribe your favs (one after another, wait for each subscription to be installed in the ingame Workshop tab, as the workshop system will produce corrupt xml files if you're subscribing to multiple items at a time - or as it might be the case after a new install, tries to install all your subscriptions at once. Which is extracting the downloaded subscriptions from steamapps\workshop\content\24010\, adding Workshop tags to the ScenarioProperties.xml and then copying it to the Routes\<GUID>\Scenarios folder).

It is also speeding up game start and preventing OOMs if you unsubscribe via Steam client after installing workshop items (close TS before doing that) and clean the contents of steamapps\workshop\content\24010\ yourself! The scenarios will stay in your folders, but the Workshop does not monitor them. If you do not delete the 24010 folder contents (don't delete the folder itself!), Steam will check what's in there, verify it with your subscription manifest, and delete the Scenarios because you have unsubscribed them. So by removing them from the 24010 folder after unsubscribing you can trick Steam into thinking they already have been removed from the game's Routes folders. That's how I kept my 300+ subscriptions (a lot of routes, and mostly HIS/Coasty/Not.Silent scenarios) while having an empty workshop tab.

I built the PC myself all driver up to date and nothing in windows update geforce experience states i have the latest drive for RTX
not sure how i'd reinstall DX9,dot net VCRedist & physX apart from deleting them and have steam revalidate and download
There is no Playerprofile.bin file as the game as never got far enough
Good call with the workshop item though, I checked through steam and I have no workshop items installed

Hmm. You can reinstall by just opening them from Railworks\Install. Nothing more I can say as a Win7 guy.

One question? Have you installed Steam under C:\Program Files\Steam? In that case try running it as admin and verify your files.

I advise installing Steam to the root folder C:\Steam as it then won't need admin rights, because the Program Files folder is protected by windows, and running programs as admin is not advisable anyway (I do not like TS Tools for that reason), other than for installing or doing administrative stuff. Kept my system virus/malware free for 11 years now.

I got the game to start
i did this by removing all DLC through steam and the game started (although with no routes)
I now have the task of installing each DLC at a time to see which one is causing the memory leak. Problem is i have 117 DLC to go through

I suspect Steam installed to previously different library folders? Have you uninstalled it before on your old PC? If not than that could be the reason. Steam remembers everything (almost ;)). So for Steam in this case that would mean one profile - one game - two different installation paths. This won't work.

Whaat? This is strange. A classic high FPS route... Try it again later. Good luck! It comes with Thomson Class 170 and the TurboStar 170. Try uninstalling them both before installing Edinburgh. (I don't know how bundled DLC are handled by the installer - should not be a problem...)

I think I've found my problem (self inflicted as they often are). I have moved all my stuff onto a different computer with a new Steam install and I see now that I have Steam installed in D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam there are other files in the Program Files (x86) folder AND in D:\program Files (x86)\Steam on its own within the folder. Must pay more attention before clicking Install. Have uninstalled both versions and am re-installing into Program Files (x86)\Steam. Sadly this will take me 24 hours to re-load all the DLC and Content - serves me right for having it.

While you're at it install Steam to C:\Steam, not the Program Files folder. Saves a lot of trouble. Then create a library folder on a different drive (root folder) and install TS there. I have C:\Steam for Steam itself and all other games and X:\SteamLibrary dedicated to TS exclusively. Never ran into any trouble with games not launching.

Concerning RailDriver I think they've now managed to have a custom installation path accepted. (As you should never hardcode absolute paths anyway)

Maybe i had an old version and its been updated and the updated version is causing the issue
Installed all 117 dlc one at a time and started game after each installation without issue. Install EtoG and bang out of memory

I can see no reason to install Steam to a C:\ Drive when it is already on a D:\ drive and well away from the OS

Mine sits in G:\Steam and works quite well.

Yes, the drive doesn't matter, as long as you don't put it to C:\Program Files, C: is just an example.

Strange. Does it work in 32-bit mode? At the moment I am having trouble with G-TraX's Pennsylvania Steam (Bessemer & Lake Erie), bombing me out, can't even open it in the World Editor... LogMate is not a big help... apart from that everything works fine.

nope, I raised a ticket when i couldn't get the game to start before I started this post. The reply from DTG was just ridiculous, check latest drivers are installed, that type of bull LOVE.
I replied to there email saying I had managed to get the game to start by installing all DLC one at a time and starting the game after each installation to make sure it worked. I then told them that the only DLC i could not install and caused an out of memory error was "Edinburgh to Glasgow expansion pack" to which they replied
"we are glad you managed to sort the issue and will now close your ticket"
The forum was more help than the ticket system and they aren't bothered about investigating EtoG

I'm sorry to laugh and trust me I'm not laughing at you or your issue, the sad truth is its kinda what we expect from DTG now.

    Try reading post #14
John Hayward said "I have Steam installed in D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam"
You said "While you're at it install Steam to C:\Steam"

You had a go at me in another thread for not fully reading a post about US DLC

Hmm. I can understand DTG in some way, because it seems you are the only one with this EandG issue. I have the suspicion that there is the possibility of some DLC interfering with each other, and this is very very hard to pinpoint. If everything is done right every DLC only loads the stuff it needs, no matter how big your installation is.
I am having trouble at the moment with the Pennsylvania Steam freeware DLC, which works if I install it on a clean Railworks folder, and crashes instantly while loading on my full install. And I seem to be the only one with this problem... though the people on RWA were helpful I haven't solved it yet. Even redownloading all core assets did not help.

Jamy Maybe if you have the nerves, try this.

    1. Check where your TS is installed. In my case, it's "X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\RailWorks"

    2. Make a new folder in \steamapps\common\, name it RailWorks.EG

    3. Now copy the contents of RailWorks to RailWorks.EG (as it is one the same partition it should not take too long.)

    4. Change to the new RailWorks.EG folder and delete the following:
    RailWorks.EG\Content\SDBCache.bin
    RailWorks.EG\Content\SDBCache.bin.MD5
    RailWorks.EG\Content\Routes\
ALL folders in here except for
    00000050-0000-0000-0000-000000002014 (Academy)
    ffc02253-25f0-40a6-9759-2c142c8fff56 (Edinburg to Glasgow)

    5. Continue removing all unnecessary assets, go to RailWorks.EG\Assets\ and delete ALL folders except for:
    RailWorks.EG\Assets\DTG\Academy
    RailWorks.EG\Assets\Kuju
    RailWorks.EG\Assets\Thomson\EandG

    RailWorks.EG\Assets\Thomson\Class170Pack01

    6. Now go to Steam, top left menu, and select "Go Offline". We want to make sure that no sudden update interferes with testing, or updates the test RailWorks installation.

    7. Rename your main RailWorks folder to RailWorks.FULL and your RailWorks.EG folder to RailWorks

    8. Now, being in Steam Offline mode, start TS! Check if your Edinburgh scenarios work. Also while running on your second copy don't mess with the Steam Properties DLC page.

    9. When finished, close TS, rename the two folders back.

See if it works. You then know the problem lies not in EandG itself.

Well it is not very helpful when you say something that was wrong and then deny saying it even though the thread is still there
    Are you a Politician ?
