I think this route would be a great addition to train sim world 2. It has great scenery as well. This route would be with the class 390 (Avanti West Coast)
You should post this in Suggestions but, 1. The whole route is too long and, 2. You're getting Liverpool to Crewe in Spirit Of Steam set in 1958, far more satisfying than driving overpowered modern plastic trains.
Also, actually put some effort in, as per my reply to your other thread, rather than just spamming one-line suggestions in the wrong section.
I hope when they laid the rail on Liverpool > Crewe for the first Spirit of Steam route, they duplicated it so they could make a modern day version of the route too. Having this route as steam only would be rubbish.
In your opinion! I'm not as big a fan of steam as some are but this route will be a day one purchase as it's my home route! It will be good as stream but it would be great if they did also modernise it so I could finally get to drive an 86/87 or even a 90!
Of course it’s my opinion. It’s also my home route, but it won’t be a purchase from me unless there is a modern day version of it.
This belongs to the suggestions section and we're getting this in the final days of UK Steam locomotives 1958
Indeed. If DTG were to do a modern era version, then set it in the 70's and 80's with Class 81 - 87 AC Electrics and 304's on the stoppers!
An opinion cannot be true. I personally prefer more modern trains over older ones, is my statement wrong? No. It isn't.
I personally like the overhead AC power trains and I really wish we can get one based in UK. We only have the HS2 section for SES now. I need more of them.
Other than that there's the 314 which is the only British pure-AC EMU in the game and the 387 but that's DC only on BML
Yeah. I think ECML is mostly overhead wires, if I remember correctly. I guess, whenever they decide to bring ECML to TSW, we may get more AC locos.
Electrification was carried out from 1976 to 1991 on the East Coast Main Line. But yeah, there are plenty of options for AC Electric routes.
I’d like to see modern Liverpool to London, have New Street, Stafford, Crewe, Runcorn and SPWay in there too.
Yeah at least 1 AC loco would be good! As apposed to the 0 we have now! I'm not overly familiar with what ran on the ECML, what locos would we likely get?
The Class 91 was the mainstay of ECML passenger operations, using Mark IV stock with a DVT for push/pull operation.
Have the class 90s worked freight on the East coast? In my opinion the West coast is much more interesting then the East coast for AC traction, on both passenger and freight.
This would be a nice addition to tsw. In terms of being to long? Isn't the full route on tsc? So why would it not be possible in tsw?
I agree, I think the WCML is more interesting full stop. The majority of the ECML is pretty flat and not that interesting scenically except the northern section.
Apart from maybe the first few miles out of London, maybe to Hitchin. There’s a few bumps and hills around Grantham, Stoke Summit etc and the section through County Durham is quite pleasant but there's a whole lot of flat earth between those points of interest.
Yes you are correct of course, I should have thought of Stoke summit as it is quite iconic in British railways history! I am not implying that the area is boring per-se, I love East Anglia for example, but I feel from a train driving point of view it is pretty unremarkable. I think the WCML has more points of interest on route, i.e. larger rail centres and more industrial areas and it does have more scenic highlights, the Lune gorge and the Scottish lowlands etc.
The main thing the ECML has going for it, is its "racetrack" reputation. But therein lies the problem in TSW, as we see with SEHS... By the time you get up to speed and hold it for a few minutes you run out of railway when we are dealing with 40 - 50 mile routes.
The only way to do justice to the WCML/ECML is to do the whole route. How they do that, I don’t know, but little bits here and there won’t do it for me. Instead of doing a UK, US and German route side by side, they could maybe focus everyone on one route. I doubt it’ll ever happen though.
Also it would be nice to see this route in an industrial era. Like Liverpool to crewe. This would give us a lot more scenery to look at whilst driving the route.
I wouldn't want to see another high speed route until the damned stuttering and pausing is sorted, bloody annoying have it happen every few seconds at high speed, especially when sound cuts out too.
