It's probably more than six months that I joined the train sim universe and what I feared from the start is actually happening. I still get confused by all the abbreviations. It's because of the release of the expansion pack that I now actually know where SKA stands for. It was my first favourite route so it's very embarrassing to have to admit here on the forum I didn't know the abbreviation for it and kept calling it "the Koln route". I noticed the forum has a censor automation for bad words, why not make it more useful and make it change the abbreviations forum users use to spell out the full name title. Be even more sales orientated and make it also a link so if I don't know the title, I click on it and get a nice overview of what that title is with a button that takes me right to the stores and Ka Ching!
Ah there is a list. The reason I made this topic was because I was reading a topic where ECW was mentioned as a good route. But I couldn't remember that as being a good route. But I got it mixed up with another route. (which is not on the list). East Coastway is indeed a route that I like. Which proves my point. Im too stupid to get this ever correct
Even if it was possible to convert the abbreviations to the real names of the routes in the forum, it couldn’t work. One of the routes is DRA but that is also a technical term for a device in the cabs of UK trains, so when someone wants to talk about the latter, the former would come up and it would make no sense. Plus, not everyone knows the abbreviations, and they use incorrect ones. I have had the problem of trying to write the symbol form for “less than three” on social media, as it is always converted to a love heart. Automatic systems don’t work as can be seen when people use ordinary words that get filtered out because they are also rude words in another context. You may have noticed that DTG never use the abbreviations when talking about the routes, they always type the name out in full. Us mere mortals don’t have time for that so we have to learn them.
The fact that they sometime switch in the middle of a route development doesn't help. Brighton Main Line or London-Brighton (BML/LBN) became London Commuter (LC), Bahnstrecke Riesa Dresden (BRD) became Navekhr Dresden (DRA) or similar... In my signature you can find all the abbreviations I use. If you need any clarification, feel free to ask
