May I politely suggest that, rather than clog up the PC and console forums with mods, scenario and livery edits and creations, which is happening more and more, these threads should be posted in the Creation Center, where they belong.
Preferably contained to single relevant ‘master’ threads too, rather than multiple single posts, there is a very popular ‘Livery Designer Creations’ thread in the CC, we could also start one for scenarios. Tom Fresco has also created a master thread for both which is also in the Creation Centre.
Agreed. Then they can be disregarded by those of us who have little to no interest in Creation Club, with its heavily moderated reskin policy and the poxy quick drive, sorry scenario, editor.
Similarly to any release multiple threads will pop up in multiple locations across the forums, with a wide range of questions. We are just about to hit 24 hours since Creators club launched so it's not unusual to see so much chatter. It will eventually clams doen. Anything I consider to be irrelevant for a specific section will be moved.
OldVern, I think there are two kinds of people in the community. Those who remember the creative freedoms of the MSTS and Railsimulator/Trainsim editors and those newer folk who think that this current runtish rendition is the second coming. Maybe one day we will get a real scenario editor and the freedom for skilled people to reskin locos. I will welcome those developments. Painting trains in fanciful colors has nothing to do with train simulation and I couldn't care less.
Tbh, there's some pretty good, realistic (even straight real) liveries on there (here's a Merseyrail 150 for example: https://creatorsclub.dovetailgames.com/mods/3738 ), and there's some good scenarios on there too. Despite that, the scenario planner still leaves a lot to be desired.
I think you're underestimating the increase in immersion to be gained from adding real-life, route-appropriate liveries which the game doesn't provide; also underestimating what can be accomplished with LD's admittedly limited toolset.
The perfect is the enemy of the good. I was very skeptical about Creator's Club, but there i was last night downloading a bunch of really cool liveries made by community members from across all platforms. I also downloaded some promising scenarios, though i haven't gotten a chance to play them yet. Is it perfect? No, the interface is clunky as hell (at least with a controller, maybe it's better with m/kb), there's no way to rate mods other than by subscribing or not, etc etc but on a basic level it works pretty well across the whole player-base. It's exceeded my expectations frankly. DTG needs to deliver on Livery Editor and Scenario Planner 2.0 for it to have real longevity, but I think for something that's technically still in Beta, it's got a lot of positives. I've been train-simming since MSTS too, and I understand TSW's shortcomings, and get annoyed about them just like anyone else lol.
