Hello everyone I just would like to know how much, in your opinion, should a DLC for Locos and for Routes cost?! These are my suggestions: Route: Between 20 euros and 25 euros Loco: Between 7 euros and 10 euros Feel free to give your opinion / suggestions in the Comments below! Take care of yourselves! Noel06
this sounds like the ideal price and DTG would still make money from sales and our pockets wouldn't loose out as much
These would seem like a good price. The prices of dlc's compared to other games are quite high to be honest. But dtg won't lower the price of dlc's and they certainly won't raise the price of dlc's. If they raise prices, I'd think they would lose money.
Does this really belong in Suggestions? Anyhow, yes following on from the thread in PC discussion about whether routes should come with more than one form of traction, personally I would say £19.99 would be a more reasonable figure for a route and maybe £8.99 for a train pack DLC. However you do need to bear in mind that discounts tend to occur frequently, either via DTG's own flash sales or special events, or the periodic Steam sales. I would also like to see an element of selective pricing applied. A shortish route with one new train should sell for less than an extended route or network that offers several train types. An analogy is the old Transport Tycoon game(s) where the short quick hauls secured an almost constant supply of smaller revenues to keep your company afloat, with the occasional big drop when your 9 wagon loaded coal train made it across the map from the colliery to the power station!
Route $13.99 (Eurozone €12.47 UK £10.43 due to $1 = 75 pence February 28th 2022 Xe Exchange Rate) Locomotive $6.99 (Germany Netherlands Italy Slovenia France €6.23 $1= 89 Eurocents UK £5.21 February 28th exchange rate $1 = 75 pence)
I love these types of threads and following comments, because too many people just happen to forget that DTG have had static pricing for years now, you can’t really say that about many products. You should consider yourselves lucky that the prices haven’t gone up.
Loco £1 Route £2 I like this name your price model, more retailers should do it. Greggs Sausage Roll 10p Rolls Royce £500 Anyway, have you seen the prices of the alternative which is model railways? Even the cheaper plastic stuff is quite expensive and the quality gear is astronomically priced. I think we are all very lucky to have such an affordable hobby in train sims. It is entirely possible that for the price of a decent locomotive and a few coaches you could buy the entire DTG back catalogue of TSW DLC.
Yeah Hornby put their proces up by what, 25% this year? Utter madness, and the quality isn't getting any better either.
It did on xbox for tsw2020. It was $17.99 I believe. That's when I bought the route. Sales seem to have been a common occurrence for tsw2020 on xbox but not much for tsw2 sadly
DLCs for engines are to much. They should not be ten dollars less then the price for an new route. Instead I would say about 50% would be a better pricing for new engine DLCs.
Well that’s some unfortunate currency conversion, in the UK it works out to be around 45% of a route cost.
These prices up the top would make good sense to the consumer based on price sensitivity however I'm 99% sure they would make bad commercial sense to DTG and result in lower quality routes and dlc which is more similar. I don't get why everyone wants more from DTG for less investment. They're a commercial entity, not a charity organisation. If you're price sensitive buy it In a sale. We'd all like to pay less, sure, however it's a pointless ask. Personally I'd pay a bit more for a route which included more locos and distance:
Interesting assumption based on your full access to their time costing and accounts I assume as opposed to personal price preference ?
Frankly, if the world ran on "Name your price, and you can pay me that" we'd almost certainly be living in Marx's dream, because everyone would take things for free. The £25 (for routes) has been stated as DTG's maximum. The price is dictated by the time (which multiplies wages and such) and the recourses taken to make a route. Usually, it seems to all fall in that price bracket. Shorter routes - like Isle of Wight and Somerset - may have their prices cut a bit - however don't expect that. Look at Luzern and Harlem Line - they are small routes, but they'll be priced not based just on the content, but the costs of making it. £24.99 for Routes. £11.99 for Locos. That's the way it is, and we as the customers don't have nearly enough insight to DTG's finances (bar what they (that's Matt) say on stream - which isn't much, but also my source for this post) to say "yeah the prices should be [x] and [y]."
If I could change the price of either locos or routes I’d say locos . £11.99 is too expensive imo , it should really be a bit cheaper
Just be glad that TSW2 doesn't follow TS pricing structure, $39.99 for a route and $19.99 for a standard loco (More for higher end stuff, from $24.99-$34.99) (All prices USD)
The prices for routes these days is really too much. While £25 for Brighton - London may seem okay at first, to get the full experience you need to be on PC or Next-Gen Consoles, have the Class 465 (£12), SEHS (£25), GWE (£25) and the route that includes the 08 (Think it is WSR at £20), bringing the Total cost to £107.
Ah yes, because we totally need the 08 - which is static - for the "full experience". Layers are a bonus. You still get 1,000+ services without them. And the prices of routes are dictated by the cost of development. There isn't much way about it other than raising those prices, which nobody wants.
lower prices -> they need to do more routes for profit -> lower quality routes do you really want that?
