Ultra graphic settings with TAA anti aliasing & 150% scaling. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT 8-Core Processor 3.9 GHz GPU: Radeon RX 480 RAM: 16GB Controller: RailDriver December Default Weather Service B 16:22 Laramie Manifest Service to Cheyenne starts at dusk and gradually gets darker on route. Screen shot taken at 18:22 3 miles from Cheyenne, its pitch black with no headlights visible, no stars in sky and ambient light from buildings. Cant even see the tracks Visibility did not improve at all as we approached Cheyenne to pull up at signal Service B 18:20 Cheyenne Manifest Service to Hermosa, screen shot 18:23 just leaving Cheyenne, stars visible in night sky and track clearly visible Theres a marked difference between night depending on if you start a dusk service or a night time service, the dusk service gets too dark and the night started service is too brigh
I've turned it off in the settings, usually I drive with no HUD but not mastered Sherman Hill yet in order to do it on this route.
I'm also seeing considerable inconsistency in the darkness of nights on SH. I played one service before dawn that was super dark at the beginning but as I was sitting there charging my brake pipe and looking around with external views everything suddenly got bright, like flipping a switch. It was a trip from Hermosa to Laramie and it stayed bright about 3/4 of the way then progressively got darker as I approached Laramie. I just played a Laramie-Cheyenne ethanol service that started at dusk. After the sun set it was quite bright, there was a full moon with only scattered clouds and it looked fine. But again about 30 minutes before I reached Cheyenne it started to get darker and darker. I noticed the gloom around me seemed to be gradually closing in. By the end I could see nothing in front of me from the cab, only a bit of snow on the ground out the side window. Only illuminated signals and the HUD waypoint icons could be seen at all. Its like there is a circular blackness effect around the camera that starts shrinking for some reason. If it helps I'm running the following : CPU : Intel i5-8400 RAM : 16gb GPU : RTX 2060 6gb DW
As an addendum, I've seen something similar on the Boston Sprinter route. On the second service in Chapter 5 Nor'easter of the journey, MBTA Franklin #702, the scenario starts very dark. You can't really see any detail at all outside of light soruces : But after about 6 minutes it abruptly changes and you can see some distance around you. To me that first screen is just way too dark. I wonder was that level of blackness intentional or is the lighter scene what was intended? DW
This is a long standing issue for all routes, because TSW’s 24 hour time of day system is, in simple terms, broken. As you mentioned, it’ll start to get dark as the sun sets, however, it starts to get lighter again as the night wears on.
