There is one out through JT (coming to Steam soon) a big problem is the length of the lines - the JT Route has about 200km of Sceneried track and that's just covering the distance between two major stops midway along the line. (It also has another 100km without scenery which may get filled in as an expansion later) Hopefully if the Tohoku route sells well there might be a signal that it may be worth looking at Asia more.
Just to clarify, this is for TS1, not TSW, before anyone gets giddy. I'd love to see a Shinkansen, even if it's just part of a line (there are certainly stretches of the Sanyo and Tokaido lines that aren't too long, for example Osaka - Okayama, that could be done). Would be good if they went back even a few years and have the 100 and 300 series, too. I think length and licensing are going to be big barriers (although it seems we have movement). EDIT: This thread has now sent me down a rabbit hole of looking at Japanese trains when I should be working. Oh well
Densha de Go managed it quite a few years ago, indeed they had a dedicated version for Shinkansen. Part of the Sanyo Shink and the Hakata Minami line. The route of necessity was not huge as being an arcade game (albeit quite realistic) you couldn't save a run in progress. There may also have been a certain degree of condensing or abridgement with the routes which I know we have discussed and most people (not me) hate the idea. But it might be the only way of getting a workable Shinkie within the 50 - 60 mile parameter of TSW routes.
