Hello all! As some of you may already have noticed, it seems like Matt accidentally made a premature announcement during the Harlem Line Let’s Play stream. While going through all the routes providing layers to Harlem Line, he mentioned the Pacific Surfliner before quickly correcting himself. See for yourself down below by skipping to approximately 14:40min. His quick moment of realization afterwards speaks volumes - he clearly said something that should’ve remained a secret. Feel free to discuss this potential new route down below, but obviously be aware that nothing is confirmed as of yet. I personally had a quick look at the line’s Wikipedia article and have to say I’m very intrigued. If they choose the right section of track combined with a fitting loco and wagon choice, this DLC has the potential to be an absolute gem! Cheers.
I would not get your hopes up for this, since he was listing the Rolling Stocks, from other US routes before Harlem (plus HSC), that can be layered into after all. Anyone can mistake Peninsula Corridor for Pacific Surfliner, since they're both from the same US states anyways.
Not to burst your bubbles or anything but it's probably on his mind because last weeks TS1 screenshot competition winner was on Pacific Surfliner. For the past week it's the first screenshot every TS1 player sees when loading. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...contest-week-09-march-2022.52611/#post-463285
Yeah I ain't getting my hopes up until there is an actual announcement. And I'm a local of the Surfliner. Just gonna have to wait and see in April
I also caught it, I would like to believe it really is an accidental "leak". It would make sense to say the wrong name if they are actively working on it.
As someone who quite enjoys Peninsula Corridor, when not driving from a cab car, this could be quite a nice little route. LA to San Diego probably a bit over the usual length but there would be little purpose in just going to an intermediate location. This is one route where it must be all or nothing.
I want this to be true, have ridden that line many times having lived in both San Diego and Los Angeles. Unfortunately, due to the length I don't think we will get it.. possibly ever. I think it could easily be one of the most atmospheric routes in the game.
Sorry to burst this bubble, that was just Matt struggling to form his words, we have no plans to create the Pacific Surfliner at this time.
Here comes Nat, with her pin, looking for balloons to burst, lol. Thanks Nat, saves us all going off madly in the wrong direction.
They could get away with doing LA-Oceanside or Oceanside-San Diego. LA-Oceanside would include the entire Metrolink Orange County line, part of the Inland empire line, and part of the Perris Valley line. Oceanside-San Diego would include the entire Coaster line. I totally would not mind either of these shortages because they're both good. Full route would be appreciated though
Personally Id rather see the San Diego Coaster line and this is more likely given the length of both lines.
NEC Newark, NJ to New Haven, CT solves two stones at once fixes TSW 2020 NEC and extended north to New Haven, CT from New Rochelle, NY. New Trains are NJ Transit MLV II EMU Newark-NYP M8 Metro-North Penn Station Access layer to Harlem Line Avelia Liberty.
Too bad there are no plans…this would really be a great route in TSW2…it’s perfect for the timetable type services in TSW. An intercity route with two overlapping commuter routes plus a touch of freight, it would be amazing (kinda like a full fleshed out Oakville Sub but that’s for another thread )
oh man. Roller coaster monday. I saw this and was like, Yes!!! and then saw Nat's reply and was like, No!!! It was my second favorite US route in TS classic.
Wait… If it was just a mistake Why didn’t they correct it when it happen instead of the awwuard cough and Matt could have gone - oops didn’t mean that, it is not currently being considered for TSW2 or words to that effect. Hmmm
I personally don't think it was a slip on the tongue. He was just getting confused with routes, nothing more.. We'll probably see it eventually, maybe there has been a discussion but nothing is happening yet.
Because the more I say "its not being considered" the more everyone says "WOW they're DEFINITELY doing it!!!" I'd personally love to see it, i've proposed it multiple times, but it's a really long route (130 miles) with a complex set of requirements (4 licensed operators), so no, not on a plan
If you play the last stream backwards at double speed you can clearly hear Nat asking if Surfliner will be the next release and Matt replies positively.
