    Hello,

My first post in this forum, so I apologise in advance if this question has already been covered somewhere.

I'm trying to create a timetable on the High Speed 1 route such that the train behind mine runs fast and overtakes me at a station with through running. Specifically I have the following setup:
    • My player controlled train leaves St. Pancras at 12:00 and makes its first stop at Stratford International.
    • The following timetabled train (computer controlled) leaves St. Pancras at 12:05 to make its first stop at Ebbsfleet International, skipping Stratford
What I want is to pull my train into the platform at Stratford, and have the train behind overtake mine as I sit at Stratford, Eurostar style.

What actually happens is the following train pulls in alongside my train at Stratford on the through tracks, and waits at a red signal until my train leaves.

Is there any way to achieve my desired behaviour of having the train behind me overtake my train at Stratford since it skips that stop? I have a feeling this isn't possible, but I'm hoping there's a way!

    Welcome to the forums :)

I doubt it is possible to do what you want to do . The service is programmed around the train you are driving , so even if you wait 3 hours , the other train will also wait for 3 hours . You’d have to use scenario planner for this to work

    Thanks for the welcome :)

I'm going to ask a newbie question here: Is the scenario planner a separate product, and is it available for the X-Box version?

It is part of the game and is available to all players

Unfortunately it’s not possible to get trains to overtake you in the scenario planner.

The dispatcher is very basic and will set the route for whatever train reaches the vicinity first. It then sets the route well beyond where you are so the points will be set for you to leave the station long before you stop there.
Unfortunately the train behind will pull up alongside you and wait on the mainline for you to depart.

The priority system with passenger and freight services doesn't make a difference in this situation either.

I don't think the dispatcher itself is any more basic in scenario planner than the main timetable mode, but DTG purposely limited the routes allowable in the planner mode so that people don't end up sending someone to the wrong platform on a route, requiring very odd movements my the train to get there. This is a common error in Train Sim Classic where you can end up with some very odd pathing...

Hopefully Scenario Planner 2.0 has some better ideas (of which I'm sure the community has many but it's whether DTG can implement them I guess)

You’re right, I think it’s exactly the same dispatcher in all game modes but it’s a basic dispatcher nonetheless. The only exception is the supplied scenarios which are scripted and you get a more realistic feel.

In real life the modern signalling systems have complex programmes to keep the track flowing efficiently but still in many cases it takes a human signaller to intervene when fast running trains need to overtake a late running or slower train.

Th scenarios would also use the same discpatcher, but they're likely to have less AI trains with specific paths and timings in mind so less to go wrong. I guess I'm trying to say they're likely to be less dynamic
