I`m looking into getting Alan Thomson`s WCML missing link route, I`m going though the required DLC and it says RSC GEML?? would this mean DTG`s GEML as thats the only route I can find?

    Thanks

Yes. RSC was the previous name of DTG.

RSC apparently stood for "Rail Simulator Com" (as in rail-simulator.com). You can still find the site archived at Internet Archive, and it's been a good source for me looking for info on legacy content that just isn't available anymore.

ATS are knocking it out of the park with the WCML stuff they're doing. I can't wait for the final stage and drive from Euston to Glasgow.

A 4 hour plus drive is not my idea of enjoyment.
In real life there is always a crew change at Preston for Euston - Glasgow services.

It ain't real life. I've driven the whole ECML several times in one sitting. Headphones on... door shut... bottle of something nice... What's not to like?

If playing for realism, I agree. But there are marathon people out here in a game setting who will do two parts. I mean, the message box can even say there is a crew change here, and the scenario can have some AI going to and fro while you wait, to make for the changeover time to fill in. Gives them a playing break too.

Don't leave us in suspence... What was in the bottle? :)

But yeah, some of the route modelling is very good. I thought they did pretty well in depicting the Wolverhampton area. Looking forward to when they stick the platform markers in, as Missing Link has all the markings of a very good route build (as someone who has downloaded it myself).

If I was driving for 4 hours on the WCML I'd want a few pints to last me the distance, you certainly can't drink those Malted Whiskys by the pint. :D

Oxenholme - Euston, nice run down to the capital! I enjoyed the company of the 86 & 92!

Why start at Oxenholme I hear you say! It was where I finished up last night.

Ice in Whisky is just wrong. Whiskey glass, and just a dash of water to release the flavour. Anything else is just criminal.

How do you download it then, to buy, I can't see the appropriate button to click on, like the other DLC packages in their shop, the Cambridge route for example, unless I'm going blind in my old age.

You need to log in to your ATS (SUBSCRIBED) account then navigate to the WCML Missing link route page , once there you will need to follow the download and install instructions, I can't help you with this part though as I'm not subscribed myself.

Just to be clear this is subscriber only content (no charge for the route other than your yearly subscription fee) not a one off payment i.e. payware route.

Yes you have to Sub to get this content & you will also need the additional OHLE pack at extra cost & also the other additional requirements needed for the route to work.

If you do decide you want the route this is what you MUST have before you install the Missing Link WCML route....

    Requirements;
    RSC Great Eastern Mainline
    WCML Over Shap
    DTG Liverpool to Manchester
    DTG North Wales Coastal
Branded or unbranded version. The installer will automatically use the files from whichever version is installed. If both versions are installed, the branded version will be used
    DTG West Coast Mainline South
    OHLE Pack
    Trent Valley*
UKTS Blocks & Lofts / Clutter / Buildings*
*Updates will remove these as requirements in future releases. The parts of the route using these files can be downloaded free in the supplementary files below.

Thank you, I realise now I need a subscription account, not just a normal one, not too worry, I can hang on and save up for it, I can get the OHLE package another time, as that's also needed for his Cambridge - Peterborough route.

Does he have sales on throughout the year, Easter is coming up shortly.

Thank you as well paulc, I have everything already purchased route wise, apart from the OHLE.

No, I was thinking more of the OHLE pack and the Cambridge to Peterborough route for sales discounts. if he doesn't do sales then I'll have to go busking, my piggy bank is already empty......:)

As subscriber you get 2 routes and 2 merges (and some scenarios) and you have discounts on OHLE Pack and the Payware stuff:
"Subscribe to Alan Thomson Simulation and receive up to 50% off in-house content and up to 10% off 3rd party content"
=> In-house would be the ATS products including OHLE, Cambridge-Peterb., Kings Cross - Kings Lynn, and as 3rd party some Just Trains addons, and the Class 185)
So, depending on what who is interesting in: must everyone decide by himself if its worth.
It should be mentioned, that after end of a subscription, the subscription content perhaps don´t can be installed. But I don´t know for sure

This can be resolved by creating an installation to an unimportant folder to find where such installations are in the main folder, and thus be able to create an archive of the content in question for personal use. If they really set it so that a former subscriber cannot install the things they paid for access to after the subscription is ended, then I'm sorry, that is an absolutely BS business model.
