Wasn't sure whether to post this as a bug or not... Anyhow in an attempt to assess my most played TSW2 route, started running through the collection to look at accumulated mileage - though strictly speaking should be on time (hours/mins) not distance as you could rack up a lot of mileage on GWE or Munich to Augsburg in a shorter period than CRR or SPG. Digression aside, I noticed that Sherman Hill where I have done the first four "Journeys" is showing as only 7.4 miles run, clearly impossible! Can only assume the game has reset the progress at some point, maybe after the second foliage pass but essentially means an inaccurate record.
hmm I've also noticed that I walked a lot on some routes. Can it be that the distances as a passenger are the same as those as a pedestrian? So the distances of the ride are counted? I'm wondering anyway - if the distances are always counted as the crow flies anyway, how can the actual route distances be counted? So there must be another counter and I wouldn't be surprised if the wrong one counts...
Indeed. It's a bit of an odd statistic which is why I suggested a better measure would be time spent in the driving chair on each route.
I'm currently playing Clinchfield, and while the basic Dante-->Elkhorn distance is given as 24 miles in the HUD, the end screen shows 34 miles traveled. In general, the distance to the next stop/go via marker is as the crow flies, while the next signal is actual track distance. I'm sure that made sense to someone when it was implemented, but I wish they'd go to track distance for everything. As to the the passenger question, someone in a 4-up challenge tried picking up walking distance by running back and forth in their train while driving, and it didn't count toward the total.
