… No blooming life sapping, soul destroying cab car driving! After doing that 90 minute all stations run from Dresden to Chemnitz (required for Journey Mode) over the last couple of days, I never want to see or use another cab car again. I know they are a real feature of the prototype railway and save run round moves etc., but in terms of entertainment, thrash etc. dull as ditchwater to drive from. Not helped by the poor track sounds, even with the windows open. Well I suppose technically at some point we could get a GWR autocoach or a LMS/SR push pull set but they were generally only one or two coaches so you should still hear the loco working away behind you.
Matching Steam Locomotives for them are GWR 14xx Oliver GWR 57xx Duck. They do have names Isabel Dulcie Alice and Mirabel. In Scenario Planner you can drop them onto Liverpool Crewe or a future Deutsche Reichsbahn DDR Dampflok route or a Deutsche Bundesbahn Dampflok Route.
Clearly some medicine is needed here : - Take a 47 to thrash on NTP morning and evening. - Reapeat one week. - If you still see cabcars after that, double the dosage.
Post World War 2 you are going to see them on East Germany Deutsche Reichsbahn DDR Doppelstockwagen. One way to tell them apart from the present-day version is that they use Green paint.
When I see posts like these, I am asking myself... "Why"? Did anyone force you to play the cab rides? And don't tell me you did them because the game forces you to finish the journey; no it doesn't, you can access all the content without having to finish anything, there is no "unlock" after the initial purchase. And just like they, themselfs, said on many many streams, "not all DLC are made for everyone, just don't purchase it". What do you want them to do about it the next time they release a german route; leave out the cabs?
I suppose not. Doesn’t change the fact they are incredibly tedious and boring as per my original assertion. Of course it might help if we had slightly better track sound and yes I sincerely hope whoever compiles the “Journeys” for the next German route, assuming it’s another red Dostofest, does stop to think, “Do I really want to subject players to a 90 minute all stations trundle with no traction sound.” As I said, a train sim is about entertainment, I can respect that some people might get off on driving from the cab car but I am not one of them and I’m sure there are others.
I totally understand that, I don't enjoy the Dostos either. I just came to my personal conclusion that this forum is filled with negativity around it's content. While the critisism and negativty towards the quality, features and core experiences are, when not derailing, justified, many content discussions leave me wonder "Why?". Take the steam discussion for example. Just today I read a comment saying how they wish the steam implementation would have been more like a side feature, developed over many more years into the future, instead of being the resource-destroyer it currently is. The reason behind this argument was purely "I want something else than that". What about people like me that look forward to steam? I strongly feel that this game goes more and more down the route of Star Citizen: An always-in-development product, with a very loud, split, and demanding community that doesn't even know what it wants. EDIT: I do not want to insult or downplay any community member, their passion towards the subject, or their knowledge and dedication, but sometimes you just have to be a bit more chill.
People rant because people want to love this game. Unfortunatly the bugfest, problems with each route, core problems, new bugs not fixed for months, have made us somehow a litlle harsh. TSW had potential to become the best train simulator but missed. Personally i think its too late for DTG to be able to make TSW great again. (sorry for this one) Still i sink hours in it with pleasure !
Well there we can agree. I'm very much looking forward to steam, even if it's not one of the routes on my signature wishlist. Quietly hoping DTG have more lined up to follow it fairly quickly too, including something German. And I would absolutely find a GWR Pannier tank with an autocoach extremely fun to drive!
Something german, something american, loco DLC... the list of possible exciting steam content is long. I secretly hope for a steam loco DLC for Sherman Hill...!
I usually ignore the messages trying to downplay steam or are panicking because there’s nothing modern upcoming on the roadmap. They’ve had plenty of content come out since TSW began, steam fans have had nothing at all until now. I saw one comment calling for a “balance” in historic/modern releases because of one upcoming steam route so if we went by their logic, DTG should chain release steam content until there’s enough to match the number of electric and diesel releases and then alternate between route periods, no? I don’t mind the pick for Spirit of Steam’s route. It’s not one that was in TS and we’re getting Liverpool Lime Street in TSW. I’m just glad to get my favourite type of traction in the game
Someone at DTG had the same ¨revelation¨ while working on the BR 101 DB and decided that the cab car is a total waste of resources. Vern and the other players won´t like it anyway, let´s sell it without one!
