Gwr class 158's don't go to Paddington, they operate in the west of England, nowhere near London or Reading.

The only time 158’s went to Paddington was in the mid 90’s under Wales & West when there was an overnight Carmarthen to Paddington service returning something like 0517 Paddington to Maesteg. Latterly the train ran to Waterloo to connect with Eurostar but when Arriva took over the operation was cancelled.

158s are regional services and haven't really run into London except for the Waterloo service mentioned above (which no longer operates)
I would love to see a 158 in game (one of my favourite trains IRL and in TSC) but think there are many many other routes which would be better suited including anything through Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Manchester... A load of Scottish routes had them (I believe they do the Kyle Line nowadays)

Kyle and Far North, I believe they have also been route cleared on the West Highland. Not really the same as doing it loco hauled with a 26 (27) or 37 though, with the dividing and joining at Georgemas!

I know you love a claggy loco behind you. Personally prefer the relative refinement of an Alphaline... (Used to work on them as a trolley dolly in 1994 between Cardiff and Birmingham New Street or Manchester Piccadilly)

Actually if I had to travel on a Sprinter would definitely choose a 158. As built, very comfortable and the engine sound is most agreeable too.

I was a Control Duty Manager from 1994 - 2006 (when I jumped ship to Network Rail) with the various iterations of SW&W/ATW so spent quite a bit of time managing the 158 fleet!

Yeah, the rest just aren't as comfortable (or weren't back then anyway). The 158 is my favourite MU I've been on
