Windows 11 PC, downloaded from Steam the TSW2 CN Oakville-Subdivision Addon. My issue is the Locomotive horn is not good. I think for those who have never heard the actual real-life sound of a CN freight locomotive probably won't understand the problem with the horns on this addon. Is there any fix for the horn or a horn mod or something? Or do I live with what I got. But what I think happened is covid19 came and prevented DTG personnel from travelling to Canada to record the horns off of actual CN freight locomotives. Ya I bet covid is to blame. If that's the case then I will live with what I got. Just wondering if there's any horn mod for it.
Oakville was done long before Covid and lockdowns. OSD released for TSW in February 2020 so any research trips (if any) would have been done in 2019.
Oakville is still waiting for its update from the Preservation Team. Hopefully this will help with some of these issues
In my research on which North American freight Train Simulator to get, I did notice that Train Simulator locomotive horns sounded better than on TSW2, but the graphics on TS didn't compare to TSW2, and I had to decide which I preferred, graphics or sounds, so I picked the graphics of TSW2.
Just lately, DTG have hooked up with an American collector of locomotive horns as a source of good recordings. The first fruits of this partnership can be heard in the (glorious-sounding) CSX SD40 just released last week; it is hoped that as older routes go through their update cycles new horn soundfiles will be substituted for the old crappy ones.
I bought TSW2 2 weeks ago, and then New Journeys Pack Addon and the CN Oakville Addon 4 days ago. Will I have to do anything to get new horn file updates or will my PC's DLC folder be updated with them automatically.
you won't have to do anything to get updates that are done to routes. They will download automatically when they become available.
Route rendering was done around 2018-2019. Therefore CN GP38-2 would have used the same horn as Norfolk Southern CSX UP GP38-2 the heavily reskinned US locomotive. Unless CN had their horns customized unlike UP CSX and Norfolk Southern
