Sometimes decals show up more pixilated if they are grouped together, if you ungroup them then it might make it a bit better :]
The pixelization issue can also be model specific too. I've found that the Sandpatch grain car is fine when used in Livery Designer but the Sherman Hill grain car is awful when used in Livery Designer and suffers terribly from very low res shapes / logos / lettering without any grouping at all. I had a few more designs I tried on the Sherman Hill car but they looked horrendous so I deleted them. I intend to do them again using the Sandpatch model though at some point.
BR TVL class 101 plain blue and yellow livery. CC link: https://creatorsclub.dovetailgames.com/mods/20619 This livery features the exact colours the trains wore.
Here's my green livery for the Br class 101. This is the picture that I used as a reference. I think this livery turned out pretty good.
Great livery! I just used it this morning. I wonder if it might be taken down soon, as it has the Regional Rail branding.
Thank you for using it :] . And about the branding, since Network southeast is on the approved list and that was a sector owned by BR as well, im sure my livery will be fine. And if some pest reports it and it gets removed i know how to get it back up so you will not lose it :]
Just seen the news that 66708 has been painted with a special Ukrainian livery, I am thinking of doing that, but of course I have to start from zero because my liveries are gone... I've seen some entries in the Creator's club already, and even if they look lovely I'm thinking of building my own anyway. I wanted to write this, first to get this frustration out of my chest, but second to say that I'll try to strive for better quality compared to my other Class 66, that's the only way I can justify to myself starting again, so hopefully fully custom numbers, maybe lettering. Of course I won't be able to port any improvements over to any old Class 66 livery. Hopefully it won't be disappoint and the 300 layer limit won't be a huge issue. -xbox player that made the mistake of starting the game after it updated. EDIT 2: EDIT 3: Now available on Creator's Club HERE
I got back into livery editing with the release of Horseshoe Curve. Since the route was once Conrail, I decided that I would start with the old road (and also my favorite railroad). Link to Creators Club: https://creatorsclub.dovetailgames.com/mods/23766
As I’ve said in the HSC feedback thread I have the ES44AC in the Livery Designer for something I'm starting on and can confirm that you can now paint and apply layers below the solebar level (As we call it in the UK) so the fuel tanks and the areas around the couplers and snowploughs along with the steps at each end are all now paintable or can have layers applied. The numberboards can also be used and have layers put on them. This will be great for some of the heritage unit liveries that have stripes that go below solebar level on the nose of the loco. I'm thinking that this is the first loco to have all of this functionality included in LD as I can only think of the numberboards being usable previously on the CRR SD40. I've not tried the HSC GP38-2 in LD as yet so not sure if it's just the ES44AC or both the HSC locos that get this new treatment/upgrade.
That's good news! Hopefully, not only does the HSC GP38-2 have the same functionality, but also the issue that plagues the front/rear cabin doors on the SPG GP38-2 has been fixed. If so, I'll have to get HSC straight away, and rework one of my historic liveries that has two features unable to be replicated on SPG's GP38-2: a different design on each cabin door and the railroad's nameplate below the solebar.
Well here's what I was working on when I found out about the new areas that can be painted on the ES44AC in LD..... My first HSC livery. Another Heritage unit for the collection and pretty much finished I think. Will be going up on CC and TSC once I've finished tinkering with it.
I've just checked and the HSC GP38-2 does indeed also have the same new functionality in LD as the ES44AC. Numberboards and below solebar level are now usable on both locos.
Excellent!...Both the news and ur Monongahela. Were u able to ck to see if u apply a layer to the front cabin door on the HSC GP38-2, it no longer automatically applies that same layer to the rear cabin door?
I've not checked that but is that not just the projection setting that is set too high and needs the slider lowering so it doesn't project as far along the loco from front to back or vice versa? What you describe happens on all models but is probably more noticeable on the GP38 and SD40 locos.
It's a texture mapping error, so if u apply a layer to the front left cabin door, that same layer will also be applied to the right rear cabin door and vice versa on the GP38-2---doesn't matter what the projection level is set at. See link to this thread for more details: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/livery-designers-beware.53958/
Ah I get what you mean now. I’ve only done one GP38-2 reskin which didn’t have anything on the cab doors so wasn’t aware of that issue. Although I have done some SD40-2 liveries without the issue you mention with the handrails. The AC4400 has a similar issue around the hand brake wheel towards the rear and which then projects the same on one of the upper radiator grilles on the other side of the loco.
I don’t know I only did a quick paint change to show it worked below solebar level. I’ll have a look over the next couple of days at some point. (Busy keeping the real railways working again now).
Ah, now I know why and where the black splotches inside those upper grilles came from on my KCS 4400.
EWS liveried Class 59205 ‘Vale of Evesham’ sat in Acton Yard waiting to work a service back to the Mendips. Livery is up on Creators Club however I can’t seem to able to select this screenshot when trying to add it whilst uploading
This adds one more to my collection of your excellent Liveries! Many thanks for all your work. I have subscribed to them in Creators Club. However, despite several different timetable runs in HSC, I haven’t seen any pop up as AI. Is there a difference in frequency of appearance between having a livery subscribed to in Creators Club and downloading it into Livery manager?
Thanks for that. It’s nice to know they are appreciated by fellow users. I believe AI use is down to how it’s been set in the route and since CC came about the amount of AI trains using custom liveries is really poor.
I originally did 8105 last year using the Sandpatch AC4400CW so thought I'd redo her now that we have the ES44AC model. I was also able to add the wasp stripes to the front and add the numberboards this time. ***Note the slightly out of line "5" has been corrected since I took the images.***
Like 8105 I also did 8098 last year using the Sandpatch AC4400CW so I've also re-done it too using the new ES44AC model.
And one final one for this weekend..... I started this one a little while ago but have had it on the back burner whilst I did the LVRR, Interstate & Conrail units as I wasn't happy with the "&" in the N&W logo. Had another crack at it this afternoon and got it to somewhere as good as I think I can get it. (I really hate trying to create the & symbol with shapes!!!!!) Due to the logos this one has the highest layer count at 569 layers total.
WaveyDavey you're one of the greatest "reskinner" out there. Always top notch liveries. Keep up the good work.
Thanks. I hope you enjoy using them.... I'm going to enjoy driving for a little while now but I may work on one or two more in the background over the coming weeks and in between some Horseshoe runs.
I had a few runs on Horseshoe Curve but thought I'd do another re-paint yesterday and this happened. The Southern logo on the nose took around 175 layers alone I think.... With that, The numbers & Southern lettering on the side being made from shapes and every single handrail on the entire loco being painted yellow it's come in at just under 700 layers in total. But it's one I really wanted to have a go at.
2 Bwegt Liverys for all players, and Logos Are included And a NRW DB Br 643.2 Livery for the DCZ 612 Have fun everyone.
I’ve made some fictional liveries, but I’m not entirely sure on what to ‘brand’ them as. Any suggestions?
I am close to uninstalling this game. Livery Designer is buggier than crap. Stuff isn't loading in anymore. So I have to have everything grouped up. Or it doesn't appear. I am close to quitting. Creating a livery exactly if it's complicated sucks and makes me want to throw my controller out the room. Then blow it up. I am done. As is I regret spending at least 60+ dollars on DLC's since all of them are disappointing and boring. It feels like the game is being rereleased with the same stuff but just 30+ dollars more. I just remembered. It takes at least 5 minutes to load in and it freezes when I try to get in.
Is this with liveries that have more than the normal 300 layers? I find that with layer intensive liveries they can sometimes be slow to update when adding/editing layers etc in LD but up to the normal layer limit everything is fine for me.
