Hi PS5 TSW2 players Tired newbie and long-time pensioner here at Sand Patch 2nd journey. I am spending more time walking / running to change track switches than driving the train itself. Not good for my health I think. Highlighting the switch clearly indicate pressing the X to switch but don't. I saw a YouTube PS4 play where it is functional. Any ideas on PS5 as to what ciuld be the issue? Appreciate the help.
Are you using the map in the pause menu screen? If so then that's why it won't move switches because the game is paused. Whilst on the game screen, press the touchpad in the middle of the dualsense controller to bring up the live map which will then allow you to change switches without the need to exit the loco.

That is what I use to think, but they do move, it is just that we do not see it. If you come out of map view and go back into it again after clicking on the points you can see that they have changed.
I never leave the cab. I go to outside camera mode. Move to lever and you can switch from there. Also can couple and decouple.
