This Southeastern line goes from Lewisham to Hayes in class 376s 465+466s and 707s This route only takes 21 minutes to complete.
less than 8 miles, would be 10 miles including LEW and HYS Service pattern is every 15 mins acts as a shuttle Services to and from Cannon Street stop at all stations via Lewisham (including St Johns), Services to Charing Cross are fast to London Bridge from Ladywell, bypassing Lewisham
All train journeys are "boring and repetitive" unless something happens to change the aspects... so not in this game
But on some routes such as NTP when you have the freight pack there is more variation along the trip. Also the handling of many of the modern 3rd rail stuff is very similar whereas doing a Manchester to Leeds run in a 47 is a completely different experience to doing it in a 40. Also not forgetting the class 101 with the manual gear changes and lapped brakes. I just can't find the enjoyment out of driving the 3rd rail stuff.
47 - apply power, apply less power, apply brakes 40 - apply power, apply less power, apply brakes 101, yes you have gears, but do 200 trips in a 101 and it's pretty much the same as any other vehicle 101 - apply power, apply less power, change gear ... apply brakes
However the the sounds, and how to get the best out of the two locos is completely different which gives a different experience for the two locos. Yes but it gets interesting with the timing of the gear changes and the brakes when you hit inclines.
