After watching a few videos and live streams, I must say I’m really impressed with the fluidity of the way the steam and smoke particles animate. I particularly like the ‘slow whiff’ of steam which presents whilst idling. This got me thinking - could this be the new standard for new diesel and DMU units going forward? At the moment, the animations and visuals for such trains are quite basic looking, as well as having little to no variety whilst idling. Some of the worst offending trains are ironically the fairly modern and efficient MTU HSTs and the Class 166s. They have the horrible ‘V’-like animation which goes several meters up into the air. In their defence, these trains were one of the first trains made for TSW. Talking of animations, it got me thinking that both the rain and rain drop animations on the windscreen could be overhauled. Not only are they quite basic looking, but the animation is less than ideal. It believe it’s capped at <30FPS which makes it look really choppy compared to everything else. What do you guys think?
I have the DLC on PC and I have to say the Streams do not do the smoke effects justice I think it looks really good. I have AMD Image sharpening on and it helps with the lighting and makes the smoke feel atmospheric as well.
