Had a look on the DTG vacancies page as I do occasionally, and this popped up https://dovetailgames.com/vacancies/producer-board-games It appears (from a quick Google) that Dovetail are making/going to be making a PS/XBox version of the board game Catan (evidently they'll be far from the first to do it). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catan Interesting stuff.
Interesting It could be better to expand the TSW brand and go for some board game around it / or not.
How do you make a board game out of being a train driver? Having said that, I do have a train-based board game.
If I remember correctly, Catan is about building villages, towns and roads around tiles with resources. Would one be building train stations and yards connected with tracks in the train-themed version?
A "vertical" is an industry term for a niche product line catered towards a specific consumer type. A "horizontal" is a product line that spans across different sectors or attracts a broad consumer base.
I saw the title, and was going to suggest Monopoly. That was until I read the description.... I don't see how TSW would work as a board game, but.... ok.
18xx board games such as 1846, 1860, etc, are a whole rabbit’s hole of train board games, but from a running the company perspective. Scratches my itch for train board games.
But does it actually say it's going to be train Catan? It could just be what it says on the tin, not some weird Railroad Tycoon/Catan mash-up.
I don't think its going to be a train catan (though I could see how that would work), I think it's probably just going to be standerd catan for console.
Is "TRAIN SIM WORLD 2 - SPIRIT OF STEAM" also a part of the dovetail game??? If yes then I want to know about its detail and its features etc. kindly do me a favor and provide me with related information.
I doubt it will have anything to do with trains But we did know about this weeks ago, because this is what DTG Natster is moving over to (announced at the end of the roadmap before last)
You have to first own tsw2. There's also a bundle where you get tsw2 and spirit of steam. Or you can buy then separately if you already have tsw2. It's basically the 1st steam route in tsw. There is also a description if you look it up on the steam website and stuff. But anyways, you get two steam locomotives and the usual stuff you get in tsw dlc (service mode, scenarios, etc). It is only 1 route: liverpool to crewe (~36 miles). The main feature is steam simulation. Sounds are recorded from real trains. It is empty and not the entire route is used cuz it requires other trains. As of right now, there is no true manual firing mode (coming in a later update). There is some manual mode but you can only control blower, damper, firebox. It is a challenging route to drive but it does not come with a manual so you have to watch the livestreams and tutorials. There are stuff on the forums you can look at to help you play spirit of steam.
I took the question to mean "Is TSW2 part of the DTG BOARD GAME" Maybe I'm wrong but that's what the post is about
In case it was a new person asking something not related to the op. It happens sometimes in the forums so I just replied lol based on what I know.
That job listing is interesting! It reminded me of when I first got into board games. I used to play with my family every weekend, and it was a blast—lots of laughter and friendly competition. If you ever need a break from board game production or just want a solo challenge, spider solitaire is a great choice. It’s simple yet addictive, perfect for relaxing after a busy day. As for exploring other opportunities, maybe checking out local board game cafes or online communities could offer more insights and connections in the industry.
