Just a couple of points regarding tail lamps in S.o.s. Passenger trains should only carry one tail lamp. Brake vans have only one tail lamp. The other two are side lamps and have their own purpose with regard to fitted and unfitted trains. To simplify it, Fitted trains were allowed to travel without side lamps but unfitted trains had to display side lamps in addition to the tail lamp. When highlighting the side lamp brackets of the brake van in the sim, it mentions tail lamps but it should really mention side lamps instead. Side lamps and tail lamps had a very different function to each other and were also an aid help the signalman identify which type of train he was looking at as well as just identifying the end of the train. I Know it may be seen as a minor issue but surely you want to be realistic as possible?
It is annoying. What’s stranger is some lamps you can add/remove and some you cannot change. Where is the consistency? You’re right, a fully fitted freight train needs only a single taillight on the back. You’re right again with the Mk1 coaches. Only a single lamp should be shown on the back. They have two lamp brackets so the guard can use whichever one is closest to the platform. They are at different heights so if you couple two coaches together with a lamp still on each coach, they won’t smash each other to pieces.
Thank you for the feedback on tail and side lamps will pass it on to the team and see what can be done.
