I think that the next steam route should be London to Brighton but in the 1951 with the West Country and Battle of Britain and 5mt and 4mt and N class and terrier and yank tank and the 08 and 33
This would not be historically accurate. The line was electrified in 1933. In 1951 you would need the class 403 Pullman for the Brighton Belle, the class 404 (4COR) for the express services and Class 405 (4SUB) for the suburban services. I would like to see these old electric trains included in TSW2 though. I think in 1951 steam locos were still used for many of the freight services. By the "yank tank" I assume you mean the USA tanks. These were sold by the War Department, and bought by the Southern Railway, after WWII. As far as I know they only ever worked at Southampton docks. The class 33s were not built until 1960, and the 08s not until 1952, so they would not fit with your 1951 timeframe. The Southern Railway had done some experiments with diesels before nationalization, so these early locos could be included. I don't think any of them have been preserved, so it could be difficult to include them in TSW2.
Personally it being in the modern era is the biggest drawback of the route as the electrostars are incredibly dull.
No you ain't. But saying that an old fashioned electric route would certainly be something different.
Nope, I don't want to drive them even though I like them well enough in real life... Also don't see much difference between "old electric" and "new electric" when it comes to in game play, with the only difference I can think of being that on some older trains you had to go all the way back to power off before being able to go to a lower power setting, and the brakes had a different lever to the power
It would be different because it would be a different setting, I mean how much different is it from driving a ACS64 or an Acela, they are both electrics after all.
Oh great, so we won't get any argument about a 700 being a newfangled plastic electro train because it's got a full width window?
No we don't. I could not care less what the window looks like. The reason I use electrostars as the example is because they seem to appear so often and don't provide a new experience when they come with a route. I would accept a 700 as it would be a new experience for me.
That was intended to be irony A 700 wouldn't be a new experience really as they're still "plastic electro boxes" any more than an Aventra would be a new experience (basically an updated electrostar anyway) But really, the same is true of any train where there is a go and a stop function howsoever enacted. The only really different ones would be steam (now in game) and all steam trains are basically advancements on a theme, and maybe tap changed electrics
Every train which is of a different class of another is going to be different in the way it handles. As the example the power of the brakes and acceleration in a 700 is completely different to that of a 377. Along with this the cabs will be different with buttons and levers in different places. Both of these points give a different experience when driving the two different trains.
And yet people continue to compare "modern plastic trains" to each other even though as you just pointed out a 700 would be different to each of the various classes of electrostar... (all of which would handle differently depending on which power source they were driving on) We are coming from a similar place. I want more variety. It annoys me when people say they don't want more of the same without seeing that would mean a lot of "one trick ponies" down the line. DTG aren't going to develop four new engines for one route, so you end up with each route having one loco or unit which is just boring... Bring in the 700, put it out with the North Kent Lines. Populate BML and SEHS with it, then make the MML and put Meridians on it too. Then turn those meridians into Voyagers... I think you get where I was trying to go
