Not sure if the volumes on the footplate are accurate or not, but from all my home movies the safety valve sounds seem too loud to me. If, in reality, the volumes are accurate or not, I'd really appreciate the ability to adjust the safety valve volume as it is on for the majority of running and drowns out everything else. Who else finds themselves dumping steam just to shut off the deafening hiss of the safety valves? Anyway, the ability to manually adjust would, I think, be a good compromise between realists and those of us whose hearing needs a rest.
I don't think you understand just how loud safety valves are in real life. It's literally deafening, if anything they're far too quiet in SOS. Same goes for the cylinders. I do agree you should be able to adjust the volume until a better automatic fireman is implemented. I suggested in the chat on preview streams countless times to add some sort of toggle but in typical DTG fashion I wasn't answered.
I think rather than the volume being the problem it's the frequency & length they go off for in game, in real life the valve occasionally goes off but usually when a steamer is sat at a station the valve is not active for the majority of the time.
I agree, I think it’s not necessarily the volume that is too loud but because it’s going off most of the time it becomes incredibly intrusive and I just want it to stop
I have said before that I don’t care how loud they are in a real steam train, I just don’t want them that loud in my living room. There’s just no need for it. The volume definitely needs adjusting to make it more bearable and enjoyable. The sound really irritates my cat too.
