You say GPU is at 39%, have you made sure your PC isn't trying to run TSW2 on the onboard GPU rather than the GTX?

I have the Monitor Display Port cable plugged into the GPU port, would that automatically make TSW2 run on the GPU? I don't know how to check if the game is running on Integrated Graphics on CPU, I just assumed that plugging in DP cable from Monitor to GPU would work

How are your FPS on other routes than Sherman Hill ?

  6. If the game is displayed on the 1650 then it's using the 1650 and not igpu.

Low gpu utilisation is normally 1 of 2 things. The games display settings are set to low and not demanding 100% gpu usage or windows power options are throttling the gpu.

Whats the games display settings set to?

Also what is the gpu temperature?

Do you have anything like MSI afternburner installed which is managing your GPU power? I run my 2080ti at about 80% to keep the temps down but even that will give me a solid 60fps in most instance

When play TSW2 Sherman Hill, I press Alt-R to bring up Nvidia Performance Overlay (Alt+R) and it shows in the Upper-right of screen during game, that's how I viewed fps numbers, so maybe the game is using the 1650 GPU. Power for the GTX 1650 is 75 watts total on the PCIe motherboard slot, no power adapter used.
On HWMonitor it says GPU Temp. is 54.8c and HotSpot 65.6c

    TSW2 Screen Settings
    Resolution - 640x480
    Mode - Windowed
    Graphics Preset - High
    Anti Aliasing - TAA
    VSyne - Off
    Screen Percent - 100%

    TSW2 Advanced Settings
    Foliage Quality - High
    Shadow Quality - Medium
    Effects Quality - Medium
    Post Process Quality - High
    View Distance - High
    Texture Quality - High
    Max FPS - 60
    Motion Blur - On

  9. Ok you want to change your resolution to 2560x1440
Change it from windowed mode to full screen
    Vsync should be on
And screen percentage try increasing it to 150%
You could try ultra graphics setting but the 1650 will probably struggle at 1440.
And this is a personal preference motion blur off

Sorry to hijack this thread a little, but what does the "Screen %" option do? I see it in many games but have never adjusted it since i don't understand it.

Kinda newish to modern PC gaming after mostly playing on console the past 10-15 years so apologies if it's a dumb question.

I personally would leave screen percentage at 100% with that GPU. Its a mid range system. Screen percentage upscales the resolution above the set base. The official defonition is:

"Screen Percentage is a resolution scaling technique used to render a lower or higher resolution image than what is actually being presented. Being able to adjust the screen percentage enables your games to maintain a balance between performance and image resolution quality."

I cant push mine above 125% on a RTX 2070super without serious FPS drops.

    Thanks for the info.

So, if i'm already running the game at the max resolution for my display, then increasing the screen percentage would be pointless?

    Am i understanding correctly?

  13. No the higher the percentage, the better it will look.

Even at low resolutions lowering the percentage will make the game look worse.

It basically changes the level of detail, draw distance etc....

But the higher the percentage the lower your fps is going to be.

For example with a rtx3070 playing at a resolution of 1080 I can set my percentage to 200% and achieve 100+ fps. The trains and scenery look like the real thing.

If I change my resolution to 4k or 2160 my fps drops to 30! And stuttering dropping frames. I have to lower the percentage to 150% to bring the fps back up to 60fps but now the trains and the scenery don't look real at all.

In game press F3 and that will display fps in the top right of the screen. Play with the percentage until you find the balance between looks and achieving a good frame rate.

ok after reading what you guys are saying, I think my issue of low FPS is my graphics card (GTX 1650), my Display Settings scale in Windows 11 is set to 150% on 2560x1440 Resolution on 27" monitor to make text bigger, maybe I should get a RTX 3070

  16. Your graphics card should run the game ok. You just need to play about with the settings. One if my kids has got a gtx 1050 which is the equivalent to yours and it plays ok at 1080 res on the lower settings.

If you want smooth frames at higher settings @1440 then you would need a gtx 1660 or above or a 3060 or a 3070 depending on your budget.

But you should check your psu has 2x 8 pin PCI-E power cables if your going for the 30 series.

Yes, you need a beefy power supply to run an RTX3000 series card.

That's not necessarily true. My machine out of the box was running graphics via the onboard chipset (and I wondered why everything was pig-slow), even though my monitor was plugged into the GPU-card output. Some manufacturers leave Windows default settings on and you have to change them yourself.

  19. Yes in some cases maybe. But most motherboards will only use onboard gpu if there's no gpu plugged into the pci-e slot.
Or if you manually set the option to use integrated graphics only.
If you look in the bios the default setting is to use pci-e as the primary display device.

I have a pc with both and plugging a monitor into my mb hdmi port does nothing, there's no signal and windows don't even detect it because the igpu is disabled by the bios.

Anyway from the cpu usage you can see that it's disabled. If the cpu was rendering frames for the igpu and the 1650 it would be working it's ass off.
